As the director of Mathnasium of Parker, I work hard to create a safe learning environment. I recently realized the positive impact the safety and security our Mathnasium environment has on some of my students. A parent told me our center was helping provide a "safe haven in a stressful situation."
Unfortunately, childhood for some of our students isn’t all unicorns and rainbows. Some of them are experiencing the trauma of divorce, health problems, death of a pet or loved one, bullying at school, or other problems. Children experiencing these stressful situations appreciate having a consistent safe and friendly place to go to regularly.
We are proud to be providing that safe place. Our mission is to help every child reach his or her potential in math by teaching the way that makes sense to them. This experience can be very powerful to a student feeling the burden of a stressful situation or for a child who is not used to feeling successful.
Please note that we are not counselors Mathnasium of Parker. We are happy we provide a safe and comforting environment, but we are not a substitute for a professional mental health provider.
