High Point Academy Hosting Math Competition on April 23, 2018

Mar 18, 2018 | Pasadena

High Point Academy will host its First Annual Math Tournament.

The Math Tournament will be the culminating event of this year’s Math Club and is open to all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in Math Club. HPA encourages all Math Club students to participate in this exciting celebration of math. The goal of the Math Tournament is to apply the math concepts and problem-solving strategies they have learned and to develop a deeper sense of excitement, teamwork, and camaraderie around mathematical problem-solving. The Math Tournament will consist of an individual event and a group/team event. The individual event will take place in April prior to the team/group event and will provide each participating student 30 minutes to answer 10 high-level math problems that require flexible thinking.

The group/team event will be held on Monday, April 23rd, 2018. Students will work together in teams of 5 to answer 10 math tournament problems in 20 minutes. Each team will collaboratively create and develop a plan to complete the problems in an efficient and strategic manner. All participants will receive a Math Club t-shirt, and prizes will be awarded after the team event.

Only Math Club members (past and present) may sign-up to compete.
