After fractions are first introduced to your student in the third grade, they will continue to see them throughout math classes and in the real world, so it is essential they make sense.
The Mathnasium Method is designed to build off a student’s prerequisite knowledge to help them build confidence in math and start learning right away. Our process has 3 parts: Assessing your child, Creating a Customized Learning Plan, and Teaching them their customized curriculum one-on-one with our Instructors.
All Mathnasium students start by taking a customized assessment which pinpoints their learning needs. We meet them where they are and take them where they need to go. Mathnasium’s unique assessment process determines (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn. Our assessment reveals each specific skill area that needs to be mastered so kids aren’t wasting time reviewing concepts they already know.
We then design a customized learning plan for teaching the concepts the student needs to master. The learning plan identifies the math concepts needed to meet the specific learning goals for your child. We use a combination of proprietary materials and instruction techniques to ensure your child masters these concepts.
Mathnasium’s specially trained instructors implement the learning plan and work with each student to ensure they master the material. We want to be there when the learning happens—all teaching takes place during the Mathnasium session, and we don’t assign homework. Our math tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn!
Mathnasium of Reston, Virginia is the 17th Mathnasium learning center under the ownership of James and JoAnn Temple, a mother-son ownership team. James and JoAnn found Mathnasium to be a perfect blend of both of their backgrounds. James is a two time UVA grad, with a bachelors in mathematics and a masters in business. JoAnn’s degree and professional background are in early childhood education with a focus on students with special needs. The Temples are a highly respected and successful Mathnasium franchise ownership team, with sixteen other Mathnasium learning center locations in Virginia.
Mathnasium is a math-only learning center that helps students in grades 1 through 12 catch up, keep up, and get ahead in math. Mathnasium offers math tutoring and enrichment, homework help, and test prep services to help students excel in the classroom and beyond.
