Q: What is the first thing a new student would do upon entering Mathnasium?
A: We are super excited to have our new students join the family at our Riverview center. We welcome them with a smile and let them know how happy we are that they are here. We show them how to sign in, where their binder is, and then walk them to their table to introduce them to their instructor.
Q: What does the first session look like for new students?
A: Our Mathletes' first session at the center is meant to allow them to feel comfortable with their surroundings, understand what their time with us will look like, an opportunity to begin working on their new math binder, receive help with any homework they have brought, along with lots of high fives and smiles. Our mission is to see that Mathlete smile, feel comfortable and leave excited about their time with us at Mathnasium.
Q: Have you seen a student’s attitude towards math change?
A: Our student D was getting F's in his Algebra 2 class and was generally feeling down about math. After just a few sessions, he was smiling and showing great effort in his Mathnasium work, as well as, schoolwork. By the end of the school year, he had not only passed Algebra 2, but even won an award at his school for Most Outstanding Algebra 2 student. We are so proud of his growth and hard work!
Q: What do you wish students and parents knew before they brought their student to your center?
A: I wish students knew that Mathnasium is a safe place where it is okay to make mistakes! Many kids are scared of getting questions wrong in math, but we want to let them know that there is nothing wrong with not knowing something. That is the first step to learning something! We will always help a student learn with patience and understanding, so there is nothing to be scared of when you're at Mathnasium.
