If you want to encourage your child and motivate your dreamer in math, talk about how a [insert dream job here] needs math in their job. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Animator. As well as cool jobs at Pixar and Disney, animators can work in video game development and television programming.

Doctor. There’s more to medicine than just knowing about body parts and how they function. Doctors use math to interpret test results and determine what type and the amount of treatment to use.

Fashion Designer. Fashion design is a glamorous career but it also utilizes plenty of math. Designers user perimeter, diameter, and area to help create designs as well as calculating the cost and amount of fabric required.

Meteorologist. Everyone loves to talk about the weather, and the science behind it uses a lot of mathematical concepts. Math is a central part of understanding different weather patterns and how they interact with one another.

Math skills can open the door to an incredible amount of amazing careers. After all, math is involved in almost every job in some way, and it is entirely essential in many fields. When students have a solid grasp of math, jobs in many areas become more available to your students.
