Get Ahead of the Summer Slide with Mathnasium

Jun 7, 2021 | Schertz

This time last year we wrote a couple of blogs centered around helping your child conquer the Summer Slide, seeing how popular those topics were and how relevant they continue to be, we wanted to highlight those similar themes.

If you’ve been following our blog for a while now, most likely, you are more than aware of what the “summer slide” is. But for those of you who aren’t or have forgotten, we’ll provide a quick refresher. During the summer, students who don’t continue to practice their math skills can lose as much as three months of learning or more. This phenomenon not only affects their retention of the material from the previous school year but severely affects the year ahead. This summer learning loss can also have long-lasting effects, including lower self-confidence, lower test scores, and a lower chance of success in high school and college.

We encourage you to get ahead of the summer slide and seek help before you need it. Mathnasium offers two options that will help you do just that! The first option is our proven Mathnasium@home platform where students can receive the same face-to-face instructor as they would at the center. The other is our in-center sessions. Any Mathnasium student can switch between @home and in-center instruction at any time. Both options follow the same summer learning program, which have proven to not only be effective but fun for students! And if you don’t believe us, listen to one our students’ parents:

“We love Mathnasium. Math used to be a lot of crying and frustration in our house (from me and my daughter), but now it’s taken the stress off of both of us.” - Amanda J. (Bryan, 4/17/21)
