Who runs the show at Mathnasium of South Blue Valley? Meet Amy

Sep 23, 2022 | South Blue Valley

Say hello to Amy, your local Center Director for Mathnasium of South Blue Valley!

So, Amy, What is your favorite thing to do in the city where your center is located? A: Visit the various libraries.

What is your favorite Mathnasium success story? A: We had a student enroll a few years back who was very timid - she wouldn't look us in the eyes, spoke in a whisper, and was terrified of being wrong. She felt like she was stupid and had low self-confidence - and it had spread from math to other areas of her life. She also was frustrated because she could get A's in every class except math. She's still with us today and she is completely different! She's confident and willing to try things, even if she isn't sure how to do them. She feels good about herself and is always up for a challenge. She comes in each day with a big smile, works hard, and isn't afraid to ask for help - or tease an instructor! It's now rare for her to not get an A with math, and she needs less and less help because she's learning not just the concepts but also how to critically think, how to persevere, and how to connect and expand upon concepts.

Where’s your favorite place to eat? A: Joe's KC Bar-B-Que!

What’s your favorite kind of math? A: Algebra and PreCalculus primarily, but really any math that encourages critical thinking and problem solving.

What do you like the most about the Mathnasium Method? A: It's so intuitive! I was a high school teacher before I was a Center Director. As I became trained in the Mathnasium Method, I forgot how I had taught some concepts, because the Mathnasium Method became second nature. The way it teaches and builds on itself makes it feel natural and helps it make sense on a deeper level, which then makes it easier to apply to new topics and situations.

Thanks for all you do, Amy!
Mathnasium wouldn’t be the same without you.
