The month of October, our learning center is running Monster Math!
Monster Math is a team mastery check challenge.
All of the enrolled students at our learning center are divided up into teams, such as Team Witch or Team Vampire.
Any time a student completes a mastery check, they get to fill out a Monster Math Brag Board card and add it to our bulletin board as a point for their team.
Throughout October, the teams accrue points. Halloween night the contest ends and the team rankings will be finalized.
The team with the most Monster Math points receives three full reward cards for each member of their team. Second place team members receive two full stamp cards. Third place and remaining teams receive one full stamp card for their team members. So everyone is a winner at Mathnasium!
Mastery Checks are a key part of Mathnasium's proprietary curriculum.
Every enrolled student has completed one of Mathnasium's diagnostic math assessments to create a custom curriculum to support their individualized math needs. Mathnasium adds this curriculum to a student's binder, which they work out of each session they attend at the learning center. Each new math concept a student is taught ends in a Mastery Check. Mastery Checks are a one page quiz where students can show us that they have successfully mastered and retained the new math concept.
