Pi Day is Monday, March 14th

Mar 7, 2022 | Middletown DE
As mathematicians, March is one of our most favorite times of the year. It's when we celebrate the beloved mathematical constant, pi. "Pi day" this year is Monday, March 14th (3.14, obviously!)

Why do we make such a big deal out of pi? Because pi is a big deal. This irrational number that begins with 3.14 and goes on forever helps us understand so much about our universe. We first learn about pi when measuring circles, but pi is also used to talk to satellites, to measure how fast and powerful a computer is, and even to study the structure of an eye. Pi is used every day to make calculations in physics, engineering, modern construction, space exploration, and so much more. Pi is all around us, and it helps the world go ‘round (and ‘round). It deserves a celebration with lots of fanfare, so that's just what we're going to do — and we'd love to have you join us!

Students who attend sessions on Pi Day will enjoy a Pi festival of foods. It's also an open house for community members to visit and learn more about Mathnasium. Stop by on 3/14 between 3-7 pm to enjoy some pi themed snacks, complete some pi related activities, and get information about our math-learning programs. We're looking forward to seeing you!
