Teacher Appreciation Week 2022

May 3, 2022 | Midlothian

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd - 6th this year!

Teacher Appreciation Week (the first full week in May) is a time to honor teachers and recognize the lasting contributions they make to our lives. Here at Mathnasium, we champion that cause and we want to send our local teachers all of the appreciation they can stand!

We work alongside your students’ teachers throughout the year to fill in gaps and provide support for your students where it’s needed. We’re always amazed by the resourcefulness we see from teachers as they go above and beyond to engage with all of their students!

We’ll be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at Mathnasium by decorating Teacher Appreciation cards, sharing stories about our favorite teachers, and working with our local schools to provide some gift baskets and other treats to the teachers who have gone above and beyond this year. And you can help!

Decorate a Teacher Appreciation Card

Everybody enjoys hearing that they’re appreciated, and a card or a note is a great way to share your appreciation so that it can be revisited and remembered throughout the year. Mathnasium students are able to decorate a Teacher Appreciation Card during their visit, or you can print this one out and decorate it at home!

Learn More About Our Favorite Teachers

My favorite teacher is Mr. Bill Cochran from Jackson Davis Elementary School! They were my 4th grade teacher, and they taught me all subjects! They remain my favorite teacher growing up because of how much they enjoyed doing what they do (and still do!). Mr. Cochran was great at giving real world examples of why the things we were learning were important. At the time, Mr. Cochran also worked in a retail store, and he would bring items in to the classroom to teach us about important concepts like money and history! He'd teach us how to make change by telling us how much the item was and if we gave him $5.00 for it. Class was always fun with Mr. Cochran as my teacher, the class came alive, and my passion for education was inspired because of teachers like him!
-Alec Urban, Center Director

One of my favorite teachers was my 12th grade Physics teacher, Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was the teacher who first helped me realize my love of Physics and made me want to learn more about how the universe works. That made me want to take more Physics courses in college, which lead to me getting my Minor in Physics and becoming a Physics Teaching Assistant, to eventually deciding to work at Mathnasium! Mr. Smith was a deeply devoted teacher who truly cared about his students, and without his help fostering my interest in math and science, I wouldn't be where I am today!
-Bradley Blecker, Assistant Center Director

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Southall. She is a high school spanish teacher. She always has a bright and positive attitude that makes learning fun.
