Why Waiting to Enroll Once School Starts is a Bad Idea!

Jul 30, 2021 | Mira Mesa & Scripps Ranch

Many San Diego families are coming back from their vacations and travels with lots of energy from their summer break.

Most families are choosing to resume their enrollment now with the last month of summer break left and some want to wait until school starts to see how things go.

We appreciate and admire that students want to go into the school year on their own and see how they do but we want to warn families that this might not be the best decision for you or them.

School got out in June so it has been almost TWO whole months since your child had consistent practice on any of their academics!  Math is one of the easiest subjects to quickly regress in if those skills are not practiced and maintained.

Experts call this seasonal regression the "Summer Slide" and many studies have been conducted to see the impact it makes on the new school year and on a student's confidence level.

Over time the summer slide can leave some students up to two years behind!  Combine that with the foundational gaps we are still seeing from the impact the COVID pandemic made on student's skill sets and this is a recipe for potential disaster!

Take advantage of the next few weeks before homework, tests, and quizzes are in full swing!

Please do not wait for potential gaps to catch up to your child, enroll NOW!
