Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

Center Director Sahar Emara, Center Director 

Prior to opening her Mathnasium center, worked as a Center Director of Mathnasium of Buffalo Grove.

Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University and a BS in Mathematics from Bradley University.

Hobbies and Interests: Math education! Nature, traveling, learning about new cultures and sharing recipes!

What I love about Mathnasium: Helping every child in the Monrovia community to truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them. I have taught and tutored children of all ages since I was a college student, and am committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in the community. 


 Ameer Taher, Lead Instructor

School Attending: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 

Major: Computer Science

Hobbies and Interests: 3D printing, building computers, and learning new things online. 

What I love about Mathnasium: Seeing students develop a serious love and understanding of mathematics, just like me! The most important muscle to work is your brain!

Major: Aerospace Engineering 

Hobbies and Interests: Rocketry and Science! Hiking, snowboarding, and enjoying all nature has to offer. 

What I love about Mathnasium: Inspiring and motivating students to learn about math and how it can be fun and relevant. My passion for math led me to discover how it can be applied to represent real-life scenarios.

Major: Health and Psychology

Hobbies and Interests: Fencing! (on the Varsity Fencing team!) I enjoy traveling, playing with my dog, cooking and baking.

What I love about Mathnasium: I love tutoring! I have tutored students in math, reading, and writing!

Degree: Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science

Hobbies and Interests: Weather and climate, storm chasing! I enjoy taking walks in nature, singing, and playing instruments including: the clarinet, bass clarinet, and piano. 

What I love about Mathnasium: Sharing my love for math with students! For example, my favorite number is 9 because it's a square number and has an interesting divisibility rule!


 Walker Snedaker, Assistant Center Director

School Attended: UC Berkeley

Degree: Bachelor of Science in Applied Math

Hobbies and Interests: Computer science and tech! I enjoy Dungeons and Dragons, cooking and baking, playing musical instruments including: french horn, trumpet, and the ukulele, and exploring new places with friends.  

What I love about Mathnasium: I love math and truly enjoy getting to teach math to others at the center! I have a passion for computer science and the interesting and powerful way that mathematics are used in the tech industry to change the world.
