Matthew Alford

Instructor
Matthew Alford, Instructor Matt is our team instructor. He is studying an applied mathematics major at the University of Pittsburgh. He loves math and seeing how it works in the world, especially in music or nature. He also enjoys trivia, so he likes to watch TV shows like Jeopardy to test his knowledge over many subjects. Isn’t that exciting to know about him. Favorite Number: Pi Fun Fact: He knows 130 digits of pi from memory! Career Goals: Matt’s goal is to go to graduate school and then become a college professor for mathematics, where he can both teach and research his favorite subject. Place to visit: Hawaii Why Mathnasium : Mathnasium blends mathematics and teaching, both of which he enjoys. Being entirely focused on mathematics, he can share his knowledge with students that he has gained through years of study. His experience allows him to help the students with any math problem they bring to him, and it is incredibly rewarding to see the moment they understand a concept.

Jackson Vlcek

Jackson is a senior in high school at Mount Lebanon. Math is his favorite subject, which is why he loves to teach it! …. And he is a great team player. His passion to share math knowledge makes kids feel comfortable to explore more. His favorite movie is Fantastic Mr. Fox. His favorite book is Grendel by John Gardner. He is fluent in French. Favorite Number: 3 Fun Fact: He plays basketball, he is a history nerd, and he loves cats! Career Goals: Work in finance/real estate and to be able to advocate for and invest in local communities and infrastructure. In the future he also wants to have a career in contributing to fields such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence, or even space travel. ... Impressive!! Place to visit: Massachusetts Why Mathnasium : Jackson believes math is one of the most important things for someone to master, which is why he is so passionate about teaching it. Math got us to the moon!

Favorite Number: 10 Fun Fact: He has lived in Pittsburgh my entire life. He is trilingual. (English, Hindi, and Spanish). He is a huge football and basketball fan. He is one of the youngest instructors here. Career Goals: Medicine. Place to visit: Iceland is my favorite vacation spot I have ever been to Why Mathnasium : Nitish has experience in teaching others at this young age and loves studying math, so he find why not combine the two by teaching math at Mathnasium and work with kids!
