Mathnasium of Mukilteo wants to introduce you to our Owner, Betty Yiu Au

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: Betty received her early education through Middle School in Hong Kong and High School through University in Toronto, Canada. She has a strong STEM background and is motivated to help kids succeed in Math. She tutored math to children of elementary school, middle school, and high school in the past while she was still a student. Having experienced the Math education in the US through her elementary school aged daughter, Betty felt that the US education is behind the Asian and Canadian education standards and is very necessary for her daughter to receive supplemental Math education to help her keep up with the competitive global world in the age of globalization. Because of this reason, she discovered Mathnasium and became a believer of the Mathnasium Method. She is devoted to help her child and other children in the community to achieve greatness in Math using the Mathnasium Method.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: Mukilteo is beautiful, peaceful, and is surrounded by the Puget Sound. The sense of community is very strong in Mukilteo.

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: We have helped students to improve their math and their confidence. We also support the local schools on their fundraising efforts and the community via sponsorships (e.g. Mukilteo Little League).

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: I feel OK towards math but math wasn't my strongest subject.

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I love how Mathnasium teaches students to develop number sense. I didn't know about these Mathnasium tricks until I went through the Mathnasium training myself, even though I have an Engineering degree!

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Mukilteo? A: I love going to the Mukilteo beach with my family. My family enjoys a ferry ride over to Whidbey Island. We also enjoy the local restaurants such as the Red Cork Bistro and the Tapped Mukilteo!"
