Betty Yiu Au

Betty Yiu Au

Owner and Center Director
Betty is the Owner and Center Director at Mathnasium of Mukilteo. Prior to opening her Mathnasium center, Betty had worked in the high-tech ecommerce industry managing and developing software products and development teams as a Product Manager, Program Manager, and Software Development Engineer in companies like Expedia and Amazon. She has an MBA from the University of Washington and a B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto. Betty received her early education through Middle School in Hong Kong and High School through University in Toronto, Canada. She has a strong STEM background and is motivated to help kids succeed in Math. She tutored math to children of elementary school, middle school, and high school in the past while she was still a student. Having experienced the Math education in the US through her elementary school aged daughter, Betty felt that the US education is behind the Asian and Canadian education standards and is very necessary for her daughter to receive supplemental Math education to help her keep up with the competitive global world in the age of globalization. Because of this reason, she discovered Mathnasium and became a believer of the Mathnasium Method. She is devoted to help her child and other children in the community to achieve greatness in Math using the Mathnasium Method. Betty is married to her husband, Ray, and they have one daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, practicing hot yoga, listening to music and audio books, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ray Au

Owner
Ray is the Co-owner of Mathnasium of Mukilteo. He has twenty years of customer service experience in the airlines and financial services industries. Ray is currently serving as Vice President of Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in the Greater Seattle area. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington. Having struggled in math as a child, Ray understands the challenges faced by students falling behind. He believes that letting children learn math in a fun and engaging environment is the key to develop children's interest in math, which in turn strengthen their understanding and help them succeed. As part of the Mathnasium team, Ray and his wife, Betty, are committed to helping children learn math in a way that makes sense to them. In his free time, Ray enjoys exercising and outdoor activities, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

Natalie

Assistant Center Director
Natalie is an Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of Mukilteo. Before becoming the Assistant Center Director, Natalie was one of the first hires of the center and worked her way up to be the Lead Instructor at the center until she left to pursue her Teaching Certification in 2021. During her time at Mathnasium, she attended the University of Washington Bothell and received her Secondary Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Mathematics. Along with her teaching certification, she has a Bachelor's in Mathematics with minors in both Physics and Education & Society. Natalie has a strong passion for teaching and working with all age groups. She has a strong passion for helping others and is dedicated to showing everyone that math isn't as scary as it may seem. Outside of Mathnasium, Natalie enjoys spending time with her family, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and loves anything Disney.

Gabe

Instructor
Gabe is an instructor at the Mathnasium of Mukilteo. He is currently enrolled in Everett Community college to finish his AAS to transfer to UW of Seattle, where he will pursue his B.S. in Computer Science. He is the current Public Relations Officer for the EvCC STEM Club. Before college, Gabe also participated in the Kamiak Show Band for three years where he learned extensive knowledge about how to lead and work with a large ensemble. While he isn't busy with his extracurricular activities, Gabe loves to play video games, code, play and write music, as well as watch anime.

Patrick

Instructor
Patrick is an instructor at the Mathnasium of Mukilteo and a junior at Kamiak High School. He enjoys playing violin and is currently in the Kamiak Philharmonic Orchestra. Patrick was a long time Mathnasium student at the center and is currently taking AP Calculus AB at Kamiak. With experience teaching arithmetic concepts to his two siblings at home, Patrick hopes to apply his knowledge to working with Mathnasium students. Outside of school, he enjoys taking long walks, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.

Zaid

Instructor
Zaid is an instructor at Mathnasium of Mukilteo and senior at Kamiak High School. He is serving as a board member on the Kamiak Math Team and is a part of the school’s STEM club, Key Club, and National Honor Society. Zaid has a younger sister at home who he’s helped on her math before and hopes to make Mathnasium students as successful as his sister was. Outside of school, Zaid enjoys spending time with friends, playing soccer, and listening to music.

Joseph

Instructor
Joseph is an instructor at Mathnasium of Mukilteo and a junior at Kamiak High School. He enjoys math and computer science classes at school and is currently the president of the Kamiak STEM Club and a board member of the Kamiak Math Club. Outside of school, Joseph enjoys hanging out with friends, playing soccer, solving math and programming problems, and creating cool coding projects. Joseph is looking to apply his knowledge from helping his younger brother to guiding students at Mathnasium. His goal is to help other students enjoy math.

Wanhao

Instructor
Wanhao is an instructor at the Mathnasium of Mukilteo and senior at Kamiak High School. He is a team leader and treasurer of the student-led Mukilteo Robotics club that aims to bring his team to world competition. At Kamiak, Wanhao is the vice president of Technology Student Association and secretary for the Kamiak Robotics Club. Wanhao is also serving as an academic coach that assists students with math schoolworks after school every week, and now he is looking forward to helping more students at Mathnasium. In his freetime, Wanhao enjoys playing video games, watching anime, and hanging out with friends.

Humphrey

Instructor
Humphrey is an instructor at Mathnasium of Mukilteo and junior at Kamiak High School. He enjoys STEM-related work and is a part of multiple clubs at school, including being on the board for Model UN. Humphrey also loves playing music and is part of Kamiak’s orchestra and chamber group. He has a younger sister whose homework he helps with, and would love to bring those skills to Mathnasium.
