Mathnasium of Northborough - High School Math Tutoring and Instruction

Jan 29, 2024 | Northborough

In high school, students focus on higher math, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics, in preparation for Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and standardized college entrance exams such as the SAT and the ACT.

Our Approach

By the time teenagers reach high school, all students perform at different skill levels. To determine each student’s abilities, Mathnasium of Northborough gives a written and verbal assessment unique to the Mathnasium Method. Based on the assessment results, our math tutors and instructors build customized learning plans designed to fit the student’s specific needs in two important ways.  First, we avoid spending time on things they already know. Second, we strengthen the things they need help on, building their confidence and reducing math frustration.

We understand the pressures and busy schedules our high school students face. Our math tutoring focus is to find a balance for our students and assist with immediate problems, such as math homework help and test prep, while filling in foundational gaps in their mathematical knowledge. The goal is to enhance their performance in the crucial exams they’ll be taking that can have a great effect on their future: the MCAS, Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and the SAT and the ACT.

High School Homework Help

Our experienced math tutors provide homework and study help that addresses gaps in knowledge. As these gaps close, students understand the material better, boost homework confidence, and raise their grades. With this help, instead of seeing homework as a burden and frustration, students begin to see it as a welcome challenge and an opportunity for further learning.

Test Prep

Students who prepare for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, high school exams, and advanced placement exams at Mathnasium enjoy a substantial advantage over those who don’t.

We provide each student with a test prep curriculum customized to their specific needs. To evaluate their math skills, each student is given a math skills assessment. Based on the strengths and weaknesses identified in this assessment, we develop a personal instruction plan. Working with that, and giving them practice in test taking, we optimize their performance. The result: enhanced results on the actual exams and a more positive step into their future.
