Eric Gani, Owner/Center Director

Eric is the Owner and Center Director at Mathnasium of North Fontana.  He has an MBA from California State University of Fullerton and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from University of California at Irvine.  Eric started his career as an Engineer in the Chemical and Aerospace Industry and later transition into management role in a publicly traded Pharmaceutical Company.  After decades of working in the corporate world, he decided to pursue his dream of starting his own business.  He currently owns other businesses but his passion for teaching and working with children led him to Mathnasium.  There is nothing more rewarding than coaching and guiding a young mind and watch them learn and grow.  The Mathnasium method is in perfect alignment with Eric’s teaching philosophy where we focused on teaching for understanding and in a way that makes sense to the child.

Alex Carlson, Assistant Center Director

Alex Carlson graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a degree in Mathematics with a concentration in education. Alex’s background includes years of education working for Cypress Community College’s Math Learning Center as the Statistics and Calculus lead tutor and eventually becoming the Director of the learning center, working for several smaller tutoring centers that focused on elementary and middle school mathematics, and the Jaime Escalante Math Program through the Los Angeles Community College District.  At a young age, Alex struggled with mathematics to the point of nearly not finishing high school and it was not until an individual helped build his foundational mathematics daily that he found his love for education in general. After starting college and recommending a series of workshops and focused study sessions, Alex started the path that leads him to the Mathnasium of North Fontana to continue to assist young students in succeeding as his mentor once did for him.

Jairo Mora, Lead Instructor

Jairo is currently attending California Polytechnic State University, Pomona majoring in Applied Mathematics.  He has taught as a marching band instructor at several high schools in the Riverside and San Bernardino area, primarily focusing on percussion.  Jairo has been tutoring in Mathematics since the beginning of high school and has recently started private tutoring after spending a couple of years teaching percussion.  Outside of the classroom, he prefers to spend his time studying and discovering the connections between Music and Mathematics, as well as how to teach musical concepts through Mathematics.

Jairo’s main focus when it comes to tutoring is making sure that the students are developing critical thinking skills and diligence when it comes to working on harder problems, all while strengthening their enjoyment of Mathematics and Education.  He hopes to be able to inspire people to pursue further education by making them feel more comfortable with a teaching environment where they don’t feel negative emotions but instead, feel welcome to ask questions and talk to him whenever they feel stuck.  Jairo is excited to join the Mathnasium team and to share the joy of Mathematics with others.
