Rosemarie Filano

Assistant Center Director
Rosey is a student at the University of Delaware, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Once she completes her degree, she will be going back to the University of Delaware to get her teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics Education. After working with the amazing students at Mathnasium, Rosey found her passion – teaching math.

Beverly Lewis

Lead Instructor
Beverly worked with grades 6, 7, and 8 for Southeast Delco School District; teaching algebra, pre-algebra, and general mathematics. Her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is from Millersville University and her Master of Education degree is from Widener. After retirement from the public sector, Beverly missed teaching and student interaction. She has now found these at Mathnasium along with an excellent curriculum.

George Grandel

Instructor
George earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware in 1973. Until recently, he worked for an international software vendor developing compilers, including writing the microcode for mathematical computations. George's primary hobbies are playing with grandchildren, leading a cub scout den, teaching children at church, and now learning jazz clarinet.

Meera Ratnagiri

Instructor
Meera is a recent graduate of Concord High School and is planning to pursue engineering in college. Along with her passion for mathematics, she is an avid cello player and plays with an orchestra in Philadelphia. She also loves to play soccer and is an Indian classical dancer. She has performed all over the country and once in India. Meera is excited to continue her academic learning in college and looks forward to a rewarding STEM career.

Rayan Kashif

Instructor
Rayan attended Mathnasium from 6th – 9th grade and is now going into his senior year at Wilmington Friends School. As a former Mathnasium student, he has a deep understanding of the Mathnasium approach to teaching and learning. He is committed to making Mathnasium an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all students, just like it was for him. Rayan plays many sports including wrestling, soccer, and track and field. He also volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware.

Devin Wallace

Instructor
Devin is currently a student at Wilmington Friends School. He demonstrates excellence in Math, Physics, and Chemistry and plans to pursue engineering and higher math in college. He is a Co-Clerk of the Wilmington Friends Robotics team and enjoys playing soccer, swimming, tennis, improvisational piano, and clarinet in Symphonic Band.

Stephanie Green

Instructor
Stephanie earned her degree in Art Therapy and Psychology from Rosemont College. As a student at Rosemont College, Stephanie tutored her fellow classmates in both Spanish and Algebra. At Mathnasium, she specializes in working with younger students and has a passion for nurturing young minds. When she is not working at Mathnasium, she works at Nemours as a Child Life Specialist helping children process and express emotions through creative play therapy.

Calvin Schaefer

Instructor
Calvin is currently pursuing a degree from Western Governors University in Physics Education. His goal is to become a Physics professor. Calvin enjoys teaching all types of math with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. He understands that each student is unique with distinct learning styles and challenges. He believes in the power of education and is committed to sharing his knowledge with others.

Henry Fowler

Instructor
Henry was recently employed at Immaculate Heart of Mary as a long-term substitute teacher. While there, he learned he had a skill for teaching math. He is currently taking classes at Delaware Technical Community College to earn his degree in Secondary Math Education. He is dedicated to providing a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. In Henry’s spare time, he enjoys watching all the Star Wars movies and TV shows and watching baseball. Go Phillies!

Shreya Bose

Instructor
Shreya is a student at Garnet Valley High School and is interested in pursuing a higher education in astronomy, mathematics, and physics. In her spare time, Shreya loves to volunteer for Amnesty International and The Bengali Association of Delaware Valley. Her extracurricular activities include competitive dance, playing violin in the orchestra, participating in Science Olympiad, and tennis. Shreya loves sharing her knowledge of mathematics and enthusiasm for the subject with others.

Peggie Weader

Instructor
Peggie recently retired after 27 years as a math teacher. Most of this was in the USA. But she also learned French so that she could teach Math in West Africa, a long time ago. Her undergraduate degree is in Mathematics from Harwick College in Oneonta, New York. She has two Masters degrees in Secondary Math Education and Applied Educational Technology. Peggie thinks the most important part of teaching math is helping students overcome the stigma associated with it. Too many students say that they “can’t do math.” Of course they can and Peggie can show them how!

Megane Noubissi

Instructor
Megane works in Biopharmaceuticals as a research associate. She has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with minors in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Delaware and plans to pursue a Pharmacy Doctorate. She is originally from Cameroon, where she grew up speaking and studying in French before moving to the United States for college. She has a strong passion for STEM and loves sharing this passion with the students at Mathnasium. A fun fact is that she loves baking.

Melissa Jones

Instructor
Melissa works at the University of Delaware as an advisor for the Hospitality Department. She is pursuing her MBA with a major in Strategic Leadership and will be graduating in the summer of 2024. Melissa has a passion for helping others and has always enjoyed Math, Mathnasium brings these two passions together. Melissa has been dancing for 20 years in multiple styles and has performed in multiple states, as well as Costa Rica. Outside of the performing arts, Melissa enjoys cooking, baking, and crocheting.
