Jay Hasek, Director/Owner
Jay earned his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in Mechanical Engineering in 2006. He worked in manufacturing for a major consumer products company before joining up with Mathnasium in 2012. Throughout school Jay enjoyed tutoring others and seeing the transformation from "confusion to understanding." Once Jay learned about the Mathnasium Method, he realized it would be a powerful tool to helping children improve their math skills wherever they were in their mathematical development. "The beauty of the Mathnasium Method is that it can be applied to a child who comes in and is having major difficulty in adding fractions, or a child who is at the top of their class and is looking to take their math skills to the next level."
"Often when tutoring students in math I noticed it was not the new concepts the students were struggling with. Many times it was the prerequisite knowledge required to finish the problem. The cornerstone to the Mathnasium system is starting with an assessment in order to gain understanding on which skills are mastered, and which have not yet been mastered. It is at this point we know our starting point and can begin the journey ahead."
Kristina Miller, Director
Kristina earned her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Elizabethtown College in 2013 and is pursuing her Masters in Education. Working at Mathnasium is a very rewarding job and she enjoys helping the students and sharing her love of math. Her favorite math subjects include calculus and algebra. In her spare time she enjoys reading and playing the piano.
