Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:


Greg Marston, Owner

Greg Marston graduated with a BS from UCLA and earned a Certificate in Software Engineering from Harvard University Extension. Greg served in the U.S. Air Force as a software engineer for the AWACS program. Before starting Mathnasium O'Fallon in 2004, he worked as a programmer and website developer for various companies companies. Greg's hobbies include racing small sailboats and tinkering with solar power. A lover of math, Greg enjoys working with children and wants students to experience the fun and challenge of math. He is married and a proud father of two sons.

Favorite Math Joke: I put my root beer in a square glass. Now it's just beer.

Favorite number: 7, it's the only one-digit natural number that has two syllables and it was my number when I played soccer in HS and college. 


Amanda Schwarz, Center Director

Amanda graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Education. She is a sports enthusiast having played soccer and baseball growing up. Her favorite teams are the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts.

Favorite Math Joke: What do you call friends who love math? Algebros!

Favorite Number: 4, while growing up there were 4 kids and 4 dogs in my family.

Fun Fact: I have worked with all three of my siblings at various jobs. 




Christian Burton, Lead Instructor

Christian is a student at Truman State University majoring in Mathematics with a goal of becoming a high school Math teacher. He loves helping others and has taught Math, Chess, and Karate! In his free time he enjoys traveling, trying new food, and cooking new recipes. Both of his parents are artists so he loves visiting art museums!

Favorite Math Joke: It's 20o out, let's go make snow angles!

Favorite Number: 6.28, its two pi!

Fun Fact: I have two cats that I love dearly even though they make me sneeze!



Maddie George, Instructor

Maddie is a student at OTHS where she participates in the Math Team and the Chamber Choir. Along with singing, she loves to play the piano, read, and paint in her spare time. She particularly enjoys Math and History at school!

Favorite Math Joke: Why do you rarely find mathematicians spending time at the beach? Because they have sine and cosine to get a tan and don't need the sun!

Favorite Number: 2, it's the only even prime number

Fun Fact: I don't have a middle name


Ryan Switts, Instructor

Ryan is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at the University he worked at the Center for Plasma-Material Interactions lab and also as a teaching assistant. Math was always one of his favorite subjects growing up, and through helping peers and friends with math, he learned he enjoyed aiding others while also acquiring an appreciation and understanding of math. He also enjoys playing music—pretty much just piano now—and reading in his spare time.

Favorite Math Joke: Did you hear about the mathematician who's afraid of negative numbers? He will stop at nothing to avoid them.

Favorite Number: 17, it's just a good number

Fun Fact:  I work at two Mathnasiums in different states. 


Jack Hook, Instructor

Jack is a retired computer programmer with Ralston Purina, AT&T and IBM. He received a B.S. in Computer Science from SIU Carbondale and has recently taken refresher Algebra and Geometry courses at SWIC. Jack enjoys bicycling, playing pool, writing poetry and watching the The Universe episodes on cosmology.

Favorite Math Joke: Did you hear about the probability problem at Mathnasium? It didn't stand a chance.

Favorite Number: 7, because it's said to be the number of completeness.

Fun Fact: My great-great grandfather was a real Captain Hook, a riverboat captain on the Ohio river in the 1800s. 



Lucas Gibbons, Instructor

Lucas is a current student at OTHS where her participates in the Robotics Club, Model UN, and Swim Team. During his free time, he loves reading and tinkering with whatever is around, as well as spending time with family and friends. In the future he hopes to pursue a degree in Physics.

Favorite Math Joke: A dozen, a gross, and a score, plus three times the square root of four, divided by seven plus five times eleven is nine and not a bit more.

Favorite Number: Phi (1.618...) because you can find it everywhere in nature and the world. Plus it's irrational, which I can relate to every once in a while :)

Fun Fact: I'm a certified lifeguard!
















Lisa Camp, Instructor

Lisa is retired from the U.S. Air Force where she was an aircraft maintenance officer working on B-1’s and KC-B5’s. She has a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering and a Masters in Applied Management. Lisa likes to play just about any sport, loves wood working, and has two crazy dogs.

Favorite Math Joke: I'll do A2+B2=C2. I'll even do A=πr2 but y=mx+b is where I draw the line.

Favorite Number: They are all fabulous!

Fun Fact: I really like roller coasters!


Lindsey Barnes, Instructor

Lindsey is a Senior at OTHS. She has already completed a year of college through SWIC and took Calculus during her junior year. She plays for the varsity lacrosse tem at OTHS. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and shopping. She loves using her math skills to calculate how much her purchases will be! Lindsey hopes to major in business and eventually start her own business after college. 

Favorite Math Joke: What shape is usually waiting for you inside a Starbucks? A line.

Favorite Number: 14. I made a deal with my dad when I was little to make a mango pie for him when I turned 14. I kept my promise!

Fun Fact: I love doing art!


Tristin Brown, Instructor

Tristin is a student at SIUE studying Mathematics and working on becoming a high school Math teacher. He has always had a passion for math ever since his parents taught him how to add, and he loves helping his friends whenever they need it! He enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and video games, as well as spending time with his friends.

Favorite Math Joke: There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator.

Favorite Number: 15,559

Fun Fact: I can play the Tuba, Trombone, and Trumpet.
