Have you ever wondered what goes on inside Mathnasium of Park City?

Jan 13, 2023 | Park City

Today you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Mathnasium of Park City.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: When a new student visits the center, their first step is taking the comprehensive assessment. They also learn about star cards, spinning the wheel, and how to earn rewards. Once their learning plan is constructed, they decorate their binder and begin Mathnasium instruction.

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: The comprehensive assessment is a crucial part of the Mathnasium Method. Depending on each student's pace, the assessment could take 60-90 minutes. The purpose of assessing is to uncover gaps in the student's math knowledge, which we break down math skill by math skill. We use this information to customize their learning plan and teach each skill to mastery with progress checks along the way to confirm solid understanding.

Q: How often should I bring my student to Mathnasium of Park City?

A: For consistency, we like to see students twice per week, taking approximately 7 months for students to make their way through their curriculum. That said, every student is unique and we have packages to accommodate various schedules and needs.

Q: Who are the people teaching my child?

A: We are lucky to have found so many fantastic instructors with diverse backgrounds. All instructors must pass a math proficiency test during the interview process, and go through two weeks of training on the Mathnasium Method. Meet our team here.
