About Our Center
Mathnasium of Park Slope has been offering math tutoring and homework help to students in the Park Slope community since September 2014. Our expert math staff is passionate about helping kids in our community improve and excel in math through year-round and also summer-only math programs. Mathnasium of Park Slope is also a member of Park Slope Parents.

My daughter got an A in Grade 10 Algebra after working with the excellent tutors at Mathnasium. She was struggling in math class after having had a weak math teacher, who targeted her in Grade 9. And so my daughter was working very hard the following year, in Grade 10 math, just to keep up. Mathnasium made sure my daughter had the right tutor and was covering the right material, and helped her get that A. If your child needs help in math, you need the help of Mathnasium.

Mathnasium works. It keeps our kids engaged and confident in their own learning path with Math. In addition, where we hit challenges in school, Mathnasium is able to respond to recalibrate the learning content to overcome those bumps in the path. It's an integral part of our kids educational strategy. It's a great program.

My son is on the autism spectrum, and he has gained a lot of confidence in his Math abilities since enrolling in Mathnasium Park Slope. Although he was quite delayed in his previous math instruction, they were able to go back and help work on foundational skills. To the point where he excelled past classmates in his Algebra class. The staff his always readily available to answer questions,address concerns, provide feedback, and are flexible with schedule changes. . They tested him for regents prep at no extra cost, and added additional regents curriculum to his sessions. They were also very accommodating to his needs (sensory wise, he requires a quieter setting with less distraction). Thus far, I have been very satisfied with my son's experience at Mathnasium.

Overall my daughters have had a very good experience. They report that the tutors are low key, nice people. Having the tutors work with them has reduced the stress of math for all of us. This is partly because the tutors are better versed in math, but partly simply because it removes the parent/child dynamic.
For us, it is extremely important that our daughters actually get almost all of their homework done in the math tutoring sessions. I have appreciated the flexibility that Mathnasium tutors have shown in that regard. I recognize that Mathnasium has a methodology, and that from some pedagogical point of view, you would like to follow your methodology and not emphasize homework. However, the reality of family life is that our kids would not tolerate BOTH ten hours of tutoring per month AND much extra time doing homework. This only works for us insofar as the tutoring sessions do get most of their homework done.
We plan to return in the fall.

My son has shown improvement in command of math functions and really enjoys coming to mathnasium. Because of the method of teaching the skills, he is able to retain and execute the functions on his own and build on each of them form there. He loves the tutors, they are patient when teaching and repeating the information with the kids.

Our son scored very very low in his 5th grade common core math test. We started him at Mathnasium over the summer and continue weekly sessions. He has successfully improved to slightly below grade average and we could not have seen the improvement without the terrific tutors and structure of Mathnasium Park Slope!

Mathnasium has been steady, reliable and rigorous while my son's public school curriculum has not, and it is one of the reasons he succeeds as a middle schooler in math. It has also turned out to be a fun, and intimate gathering place for students all over Park Slope and he very much counts it as a neighborhood hangout!
