Mikhail Kiselgof, Center Director
Mikhail's adventures in math began as the All-Around representive for his elementary school at the Oakland Unified School District Math Olympics. He attended the University of San Francisco and has spent his career working in Office Management and Fiscal Accounting, most recently assisting our county residents supporting the Children and Family Services unit for the County of San Mateo. Whether it's tutoring foster children or helping recent immigrants prepare their taxes, Mikhail has always been committed and invested in helping to empower people and endow them with the tools to succeed in math.
Mikhail is passionate about organizing and problem solving, with this energy propelling him to make learning plans at Mathnasium the right fit for every child. In his free time, Mikhail watches Sesame Street with his young daughters, tends to his family's needy dogs, and dreams about having time for video games.
Spencer Davis, Curriculum Advisor
Spencer's twin passions are Mathematics and play. He has taught in math classrooms across the Bay Area in California and in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, and tutored students in various subjects from elementary to collegiate levels. Spencer believes a strong mathematical practice equips students with the ability to relate concepts no matter the field. At Mathnasium of Redwood City, Spencer strives to help students with math anxiety to learn to be confident in their own abilities and knowledgeable in how to promote their own success. Spencer believes deeply in the power of individualized education and alternative teaching approaches.
Spencer earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Indiana University. Spencer is also an avid storyteller. He and his partner organize and host multiple board game and storytelling events in the Bay Area, where he teaches the value of play to adults. You may also encounter him exporing restaurants, walking his cat, or wandering the halls of the library.
Sarah Williamson, Resource Coordinator
Sarah's enthusiasm for Mathnasium comes from her passion for the intersection of mathematics and community. She has over a decade of experience tutoring and teaching STEM subjects at the K-12, collegiate, and adult learning levels. She previously worked for five years as a software developer and android platform analyst and as a technical instructor within the public sector in Washington DC. Along the way, Sarah discovered Mathnasium and began working evenings as an instructor for three years, where she realized how impactful Mathnasium could be. With her move to the West Coast in 2016, she made the transition into Education full-time with Mathnasium of Redwood City. She is proud to be serving the Redwood City and San Carlos communities. She believes Mathnasium is where bright futures are imagined and truly realized.
Sarah completed her engineering degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at Virginia Tech, with a focus on Communication Technology and Gender Studies. She spends her free time drinking coffee, exploring the outdoors, and volunteering with the local Food and Nutrition Center to promote community health and nutrition awareness.
Beatrice Chan, Owner / Managing Director
Beatrice earned her degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in East Asian Languages and Cultures with a Minor in Business. After earning her degree, Beatrice moved to Silicon Valley in 2001 and worked for 9 years as an Account Manager and Program Manager with startup companies that had a strong presence in the Education market.During that time, Beatrice was heavily involved with Healthy Cities Tutoring of San Carlos, teaching children before work. Realizing that there was a severe need for math enrichment, she soon after ventured on her own to tutor Math all around Redwood City and San Carlos. Her ability to help children understand the concepts of math and the demand for her services is what prompted Beatrice to open up a Mathnasium Center.
Beatrice is passionate about making children knowledgeable and successful in understanding Mathematical concepts, all while having fun! She believes that being fluent in Math not only boosts a child's confidence, but also empowers them to reach their fullest potential. This passion is what drives her to be a proud member of the Mathnasium Family.
Mathnasium of Redwood City has a very strong, diverse team of instructors including post-college STEM professionals working in the Bay Area; college students pursueing math, science, and education degrees; and the top students from the local high schools. Our instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, participate in and lead numerous academic and athletic endeavors, and speak over nine languages. The incredible instructor team at Mathansium of Redwood City is well-known regionally, often hosting training events for other Bay Area Mathnasium Centers. While they all bring their own unique strengths and different qualifications to our team, they all have one thing in common: they have a passion for math and for teaching!
