Word Problem Wednesday: Can Camels Do Math?

Oct 2, 2019

Humans need water regularly. We are supposed to drink about 8 glasses of water a day, and we can only go about 4 days (give or take) without water. So it’s pretty incredible to learn that camels can go for MONTHS without drinking water. Wow!

Just as you need to drink water every day, you also need to do a little bit of math every day. Mathnasium learning centers for kids offer math in a fun environment, so that whether you’re looking for a tutor in math, or just want a regular workout to keep your brain sharp, we have just the right program for you. Why not start today with our fun math challenge? Practice elementary skills such as fractions and multiplication, as well as units of measure, in the word problem below.

Question: A camel can go for six months without drinking water. It can also drink water very quickly—30 gallons in 13 minutes! Find the rate at which a camel drinks in gallons per hour.
