Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

OwnerIman, Center Director

After working and volunteering in multiple educational institutes, Iman has developed a fondness for participating in children's educational growth and development. From a teachers' recruiter in private schools to a learning support teacher, an Arabic Tutor, and lastly a center director at Mathnasium of Redmond, Iman believes that with the right resources in place students can educationally excel and grow. Iman has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and has also completed a Human Resources Management certificate from the University of Washington. Iman loves reading, cooking, jigsaw puzzles, socializing, and meeting new people.

Joy, Lead Instructor

Joy has spent over eight years tutoring Chemistry, Biology, and Genetics. She has a Bachelor's in Biochemistry and a Master's in Education from Seattle Pacific University. Joy also has three years of experience as a paraeducator in the Lake Washington School District.

Joy likes helping students overcome their personal hurdles in math. She enjoys introducing students to the fun side of problem-solving and showing them that working on complex problems can be absorbing and rewarding.

In addition to her work at Mathnasium, Joy is a volunteer forest steward working with the Green Kirkland Partnership.

Tony, Instructor 

Tony has an undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics, as well as a Master's in Statistics, Education, and an MBA. In addition to tutoring at Mathnasium, he owns two businesses and has recently been made a subject matter expert in Machine Learning!

Ted, Instructor 

Ted recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Quantam Physics from Washingon State University. He enjoys sharing his love of mathematics and started tutoring as a way to continue doing so beyond higher education. Outside of math, he loves camping and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Michael, Instructor 

Michael graduated with a Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University in New York, after completing his Bachelor's in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Washington. During his time in school, he worked as a teaching assistant and SAT tutor and enjoyed teaching so much he opted to continue even after graduation. While he now works full-time in his chosen industry, he continues to stay with Mathnasium to share his passion for math with the future generations.

Tyler, Instructor 

Tyler graduated from the University of Washington, Bothell, with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics and is currently pursuing a Master's in Education. During his time in undergrad, he taught a course on videogame design which piqued his interest in teaching. In his spare time, he enjoys photography and origami. 

Kenny, Instructor 

 Kenny earned his Bachelor's in physics with astrophysics at the University of Sussex, England, and completed a post-graduate certificate in education to become a math and science teacher. His love of math is contagious, and he finds joy in helping others on their learning journeys. He is now back to pursuing his own studies, choosing astrophysics for his Master's. As a private tutor, he has traveled all over but is very happy to be in the beautiful pacific northwest.
 

Maya, Instructor 

Maya is very passionate about math and loves to inspire the same in her students. She believes that every student can succeed. Outside of Mathnasium, she is an instructor for a non-profit that teaches elementary and middle school girls about topics in STEM and robotics. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, and soccer. She plans to one day have a career in engineering, which requires a strong knowledge of math.

Kylisa, Instructor 

Kylisa is math's number one fan and has a passion for sharing her knowledge of mathematics! She completed her Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics at Western Washington University where she is also currently pursuing a Master's in Teaching. Her favorite math fields include Geometry, Calculus, and STatistics! Outside of math, Kylisa loves being active, watching movies, and playing with her Corgi, Pendlee!

Latha, Instructor 

Latha has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with specializations in Human Resource Management and Finance. She has worked as a Para Educator for two years with the Issaquah school district, where she coached kids in English and math. Math is her favorite subject since she was a child. She enjoys the process of identifying the areas of improvement, explaining the logic and the process involved in solving the problem. It gives her immense pleasure when her students do well. Besides a passion for math, she enjoys playing the piano, listening to music, and volunteering.

Tarun, Instructor 

Tarun is currently pursuing a math and engineering degree at the University of Washington. He has helped his friends and family with math throughout his high school years, as he is very passionate about STEM subjects especially math. In his free time, he enjoys biking, playing soccer, listening to music, and volunteering.

Irangani, Instructor 

Ira is very interested in mathematics. She holds a bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. She was an engineer in a world-class manufacturing company back in her country. After moving to Canada, she worked as an analyst in a chemical laboratory. She loves learning and enhancing her knowledge in different fields and recently finished her data analytics program at the University of Washington. She loves sharing her knowledge with kids and is also a volunteer teacher, on top of her Mathnasium work!

Ilya, Instructor 

Ilya has taught all levels of K to 12 math and beyond, teaching math and computer science at Portland Community College. Ilya holds three undergraduate degrees, one in Mathematics, one in Computer Science, and one in Electrical Engineering!
