Peter Chipman, Center Director
Peter is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Scotts Valley. Prior to opening his Mathnasium center, Peter worked in Electronics Assembly and Manufacturing. Peter is enthusiastic about helping every child in the Scotts Valley /Santa Cruz community to understand math, by teaching it in a way that makes sense to them. He is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in the community. Peter believes that everyone can learn math and that math is important for their future.
Annie Zanger, Instructor
Hi I’m Annie and I have been working at Mathnasium since January of 2019. I currently works as a 1 on 1 aide at SLVE and I’m so glad to have another chance to work with kids! Helping kids grow their confidence in their own math abilities and working with students of a wide variety of ages is what I love most about working at Mathnasium. Annie graduated from Carleton College in 2018 with Linguistics major and Spanish minor and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in speech pathology
Kayton Rivera, Instructor
Kayton is a student at Cabrio College majoring in math. He also enjoys drumming and plays in a local band. Kayton feels that if you can connect with the student and understand their struggles, this will make your instruction more meaningfull. Kayton has been an instructor at Mathnasium for over a year and a half.
Heather Patterson, Instructor
Hi there! My name is Heather and I’ve been an instructor since August 2018. I’m currently a full IB student at Scotts Valley High School. I also volunteer at local elementary schools to help students. Being an instructor at Mathnasium has been an amazing experience for me. Not only have I watched my students learn and grow as individuals, I have also seen myself learn new skills. I’ve truly enjoyed watching everyone that comes to learn at Mathnasium. It gives me so much joy to see their excitement about learning new things in an easier manner. Mathnasium makes math simple through fun games and tricks that are tailored to each student. Nowhere else have I seen so many students smile while practicing math.
Anika Mistry, Instructor
Anika has been an instructor at Mathnasium for over a year and a half. She is a full IB student at Scotts Valley High School. Anika enjoys working at Mathnasium because of the major improvements she sees in students. Seeing children go from despising math to loving is what she loves most. Mathnasium is a supportive environment which helps students improve in not only math, but all academic subjects as well. Mathnasium has helped Anika grow as an individual by giving her tips for teaching students of all ages and adapting to their needs.
Ariel Paisley, Instructor
Ariel is a retired math and science teacher, instructing students from first grade through calculus. Ariel can make even the hardest problems fun and interesting and is great at explaining concepts so that the students understand. Got a math question, Ariel is the one to ask!
Rianna Alders, Instructor
Rianna is a Senior at Scotts Valley High school.She is hoping to go on to study Chemical engineering after high school. Math is her favorite subject and so she is hoping to pass on her love of math to all the students she gets to work with
Rocel Co, Instructor
Rocel has students in the Scotts Valley schools which gives her a different perspective than the other instructors. She understands the struggles from the perspective of student and parent. Rocel has always loved math and in addition to tutoring her children she has tutored all the neighborhood childrenas well.
Rocel has a BS degree in Chemical engeneering from the University of the Phillipines
Sequoia Jones Instructor
Sequoia is a student at Cabrillo Colledge. Sequoia's family owns a Pizza Parlor so she loves fractions.She loves working with students of all ages and says that correcting all the work at mathnasium is helping her get faster at her college math.
Melody Panttaja, Instructor
Melody loves playng with numbersand all the ways they fit together. Mathnasiums focus on number senselets her share this fun with the students.
When not at Mathnasium, Melody can probably be fond driving her kids places or playing educational games.
Melody has a MA in Mathnmatics from UCSC
Haley Clark, Instructor
Haley is a Scotts Valley High School senior. Haley loves working with the new students and helping them develop a love of math. She can see that the Mathnasium method works and the teachng methods make the students math fears go away. "Watching the students progress is a great feeling"
