5th Annual All-City Chess Tournament
(August 2019)
This year's annual All-City Chess Tournament was hosted by our sister center in Monterey Park.
Designed to be more fun than competitive, we were pleasantly surprised to see the skill level that showed up. Kids from all over the San Gabriel Valley met up to mingle and match their skills against other chess-loving students from other local centers.
Participating centers included: Pasadena, South Pasadena & Monterey Park.

We have been extremely happy with our experience at the South Pasadena Mathnasium. Nathan and his staff are absolutely wonderful. Nathan is so accommodating - he always help make sure that we can schedule our sessions and always follows through on emails questions and makes sure that the kids are where they need to be to challenge themselves while still enjoying math. My kids absolutely love Mathnasium and can’t wait for the next session. They love all of the tutors as well. I’ve already been singing the praises of the South Pasadena location to other friends who have joined.

My grandson who was in the 4th grade was doing very poorly in math. A test he took in school before starting Mathnasium was 60, and that was about the average grade he was receiving. A few months after starting Mathnasium, he greatly improved in math and his final report card showed a 3 out of 4. Not only did Mathnasium help him so much with his math, but because he was doing so much better in school, it also helped improve his self esteem, which, to me, is just as important.

Marhnasium has been an amazing help for my two children. They are discovering that they like math and that they can actually be good at it.
The staff is wonderful. They are knowledgeable and friendly... and incredibly helpful, with any need we may have. The kids look forward to their sessions at mathnasium because they really like the instructors and because they are a little more confident with their math skills after every session.

Andrew at the South Pasadena location was so helpful and was so committed to helping our son improve his math grades. He was willing to write letters to my son’s school to facilitate a strategic plan for his math tutoring. My son Robert was very behind when he started and I thought he would never catch up. I’m very happy to report Robert is now a high junior and has consistently earned A’s and B’s for two years now. Mathnasium was instrumental in this achievement. He is taking pre-Calculus now and has mastered critical thinking with most of the math he is learning so that he can work independently.

Mathnasium works with you regarding everything. They make you feel like you can achieve anything. My daughter made so much progress, and we had tried many tutoring services prior. I truly believe if it wasn’t for Andrew the manager of the South Pasadena facility, we would not be where we are today. Not only did he help my daughter in tutoring, but was there for her when she was going through emotional issues due to Covid. Hands-down a stellar place!

Andrew and the staff are super friendly and helpful, and they follow a systematic structure to improve kids' math skills. My son is on the autistic spectrum so he cannot stay focused during the classes. Even though he made strides after just a few lessons, we had to pull him out.
Andrew was very understanding and compassionate, he recommended a great tutor who specializes in teaching kids on the spectrum, and full refunded the tuition and registration fees. We are very grateful for our son's math education at Mathnasium and how we were treated, and hope one day we can come back again when our son learns how to control himself better.

Andrew and the staff had been really friendly and helpful, and even though our son has some special needs that they are not equipped to handle, they remain courteous and understanding, and help us transition to another format of mathematical education for our son.
I feel Mathnasium is the right place to improve children's mathematical proficiency systematically and their format is extremely flexible and working-parents-friendly.

My son is not a big fan of math. However, with the help of his tutor he is able to get through his assignments with ease. He scores way above his grade level and I'm glad that he has a tutor that can push him to do the work required to succeed. He looks forward to going to see his tutor and that's a miracle. Haha.
