Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

 Joshua Napoli, Instructor

 Joshua is a 2019 graduate of Dickinson High School.  He is currently a college student   taking his basic courses.  His love for math all through school has brought him to   Mathnasium as an instructor. Joshua's favorite part of math is taking a long equation and   simplifying it into just a few terms.  Joshua is passionate about helping kids and teens   develop a deep understanding and become successful in math. He wants students to   know that they can achieve whatever they want when they put their mind into it.


Nuzhat Jabeen, Instructor

Nuzhat earned her Bachelor's in Mathematical Sciences from University of Houston-Victoria. She has been teaching for ten years and has taught all levels of math from basic multiplication to advanced mathematical analysis. She has mastered math skills in the areas of Algebra, Geometry and Calculus. Nuzhat always had a passion for helping students learn math in a way that makes sense to them. Outside the work, Nuzhat is a team player, she enjoys solving puzzles and mathematical riddles. 


Ashley Sierra, Instructor

Ashley is college graduate with a degree is Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She is working on her long term goal of becoming a Emergency Medicine Physician. Her passion and enthusiasm for all subjects of mathematics has brought her onto the team with us. Ashley is very enthusiastic and fervent about any and all education. She believes that mathematics and science are crucial subjects that help shape young brilliant minds. With dedication and determination, anything is possible! 




 Daniel Melgar, Instructor                                                                          

Daniel is a senior at Clear Horizons Early College High School. He is currently taking college-level math courses at San Jacinto Community College. His involvement in tutoring fellow classmates at school brought him here to Mathnasium as an instructor. Daniel wants to sharpen his teaching skills as he aspires to one day become a professor at a university. He wants to let Mathnasium Students know that math can be fun if taught correctly.



Kam Ellis, Center Director 

Kam Ellis, M.Ed has been in education for 20 years. She has a master’s degree in education leadership and a bachelors degree in business administration.  She served as a classroom teacher for 10 years, providing instruction in math and science.   She continued on to become an instructional coach, working with teachers on best practices, instructional strategies, background knowledge, and effective use of data. She also served as a curriculum specialist, writing curriculum and facilitating professional development to teachers at the district level.  

Kam knows the importance of students having a solid foundation in math. As a mother of a student who attended Mathnasium, she knows first hand that the Mathnasium Method helps improve achievement in school and promotes self confidence. She is committed to providing a positive, encouraging, learning environment that fosters a love for mathematics. Her goal is for students to be problems solvers and develop confidence in their abilities.  Through consistent, targeted, effective instruction, students can achieve success in mathematics and beyond.
