How to Add Math Into Your Summer Fun!

Aug 9, 2019 | Southtowns
We’e talked a lot about the “summer slide” during our summer break. We wanted to follow up with a few tips on how to add math into your summer fun! In addition to visiting Mathnasium Southtowns, practicing makes perfect, so why not integrate fun math games into your summer?

Between playing board games is a perfect way to bring the family together and practice math (happily), before you know it:
  1. Monopoly - A great, family-friendly board game that allows players to buy and trade properties, charge other players rent, and more. Be sure to use the game with actual “money” - the debit card version isn’t as educational.
  2. Math War - This is a fun variation on the classic card game that challenges players to perform multiplication calculation. The player with the highest product, wins the hand!
  3. Battleship - A classic, this game tests memory and spatial reasoning skills. Based on a numbered and lettered grid, guess where your opponent's game pieces are positioned. First one to "sink" all of their opponent's battleships wins.

Family game night may even allow a “leveled-up” experience of Game Shows! Create an opportunity to win pretend (or real) cash for each math or language question answered correctly.

If you’re in search of more math-tactic summer activities, our summer program is in full-swing and everyone at Mathnasium is having a blast helping students fortify their math foundations and prepare for what lies ahead.
