Jerry Post, Owner
Jerry is the Center Director and owner of Mathnasium of Spokane South. Prior to opening the Mathnasium center, Jerry worked as the Executive News Director for the KXLY Media Group. He has an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and a BA in Communications from the University of Michigan. Jerry has always had a love of math and numbers, and is excited to help children throughout the Spokane community truly understand math by teaching it in a way that makes sense to them.
His wife also loves numbers - especially temperatures! Jerry is married to Kris Crocker, the Chief Meteorologist at KXLY 4 News. They have three daughters in Spokane public schools, and love to explore the outdoors in the Inland Northwest.
Chelsea, Center Director
Chelsea originally went to Ferris State University in Michigan to become a pharmacist. Once she went to pharmacy school, she became a biochemistry teacher's assistant. She loved her job as a TA so much, she left pharmacy school to go into education administration. She graduated from Ferris State University in 2016 and she's been teaching students of all ages ever since!
When's she not whipping up a new learning plan at Mathnasium, she's whipping up a new recipe in her kitchen! Chelsea loves to cook and bake and sometimes brings in treats to share.
Marissa, Assistant Center Director
Marissa is a junior at Washington State University where she's pursuing a degree in Speech Language Pathology.
Marissa graduated with honors from Ferris High School, where she tutored math and Spanish for 3 years. Growing up, math and science were her favorite subjects. In her free time, Marissa likes to hike, kayak, and make pottery!
Sophie was born and raised in Bellevue, Washington. She is in her junior year at Gonzaga, majoring in mathematics and getting her secondary education certificate with this. She loves math because it can teach important life skills such as how to ration and problem solve effectively, and also give a sense of accomplishment when arriving at a solution.
Her hobbies include working out, playing basketball, hanging out with friends and family, traveling, spontaneous road trips, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
Wendy is a sophomore at Vanderbilt University (Anchor Down!) in Nashville, TN studying Elementary Education and Secondary Language Studies with a minor in music. She grew up in Spokane and graduated from Ferris High School in 2020.
Wendy is a member of her university’s running club, plays flute in the wind ensemble, and is a tour guide for prospective students. In her free time, she loves hiking, trying out new restaurants in Nashville, and petting dogs.
At Mathnasium, she loves exploring different ways to learn math concepts and celebrating the diversity of thought behind students’ problem-solving methods.
Ryan graduated from Spokane Community College with an AA in Computer Science and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in math at Gonzaga University. He has more than a decade of experience in math instruction, tutoring students from 2nd grade all the way through collegiate Calculus 2.
Ryan also works at Engie Insight, where he writes programs that automate navigating a website from login to payment submission, paying utility bills for many large companies such as Starbucks and McDonalds.
Nicole is from Snohomish, WA and is currently a senior at Gonzaga University. She is pursing a nursing degree in hopes of working in a major children's hospital someday!
Nicole loves math and continues to use it everyday as she practices her nursing skills. Not only does she love how applicable it is to everyday life, but she also loves the gratifying feeling of the “aha” moment.
In her free time, Nicole loves to go hiking, play volleyball, spend time with friends and family, and take care of her many plants!
Ryan attended Seattle University where he majored in Computer Science. He is a graduate of Gonzaga Prep and worked at Gonzaga University's Math Tutoring Program and worked as a mentor for students at St. Aloysius.
Ryan loves math and programming because they involve abstract problem solving skills, often with multiple ways to arrive at the same solution.
Celeste is from Sacramento, California and pursuing a nursing major at Gonzaga University. When she's not studying or working, she loves exploring downtown Spokane! Math has always been her favorite subject because she loves the feeling of finally figuring out how to get the right answer to a problem, and seeing the solution unfold as you work the problem out.
She loves Mathnasium, because she can see student’s confidence grow as they work through their problems and get more and more questions right.
Xzandre is a freshman at Saint Louis University where he majors in biology and chemistry with a goal of being a pediatric cardio thoracic surgeon. His hobbies include biking, reading and playing with his dogs. Xzandre is a recent graduate of Gonzaga Prep where he was an honors student and standout track athlete.
Xzandre says "I like math because I enjoy the patterns and rhythm you can find within problems. I can’t wait to work with your child and help them figure out these patterns!"
Chloe is currently a senior at Gonzaga University, where she's pursuing her secondary teaching certification. While at school, Chloe also serves as an ambassador for Gonzaga University, giving tours to perspective students and families.
While not instructing at Mathnasium or going to school, Chloe loves exploring Spokane, volunteering with kids, and spending time with her friends and family.
Growing up, math didn't always come easily for Chloe. But, with the support of her teachers and tutors, she was able to succeed in math and come to love the subject! She remembers that math can be frustrating sometimes, and loves helping kids feel more confident in their math skills!
Nick is a junior at Eastern Washington University who graduated from Ferris High School in 2018.
Nick says "I have explored several majors including mechanical engineering, computer science, and math but at this time remain undecided. One thing I know for sure however is that I enjoy math a whole lot."
Nick's other interests include watching, playing, and coaching baseball as well as playing piano.
Sara is a graduate of West Seattle High School in 2019. She's currently a Junior at Gonzaga studying Criminology and Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She hopes to be a Juvenile Psychologist and work with kids in the foster care sysytem.
In her free time she loves playing with her dog, reading, and exploring Spokane!
Sara loves working with the students at Mathnasium everyday, watching them grow their mathmatical talents as well as their personalities. Nothing beats watching a student have that 'aha' moment after understanding a concept.
Brianne is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and took Algebra through Statistics as a student there.
Ever since she was a child, Brianne loved working with numbers, and enjoys sharing her guidance and knowledge of math with future generations.
She plans to pursue a career in medicine at the University of Washington, but in her free time she likes film photography, skiing, rock climbing, and painting.
Lillian is a sophomore at Gonzaga University majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Social Justice. She is originally from Sammamish, Washington, and she wants to pursue a career involving writing and activism.
Lillian grew to love math in high school and enjoys tutoring students in math because it is rewarding to see their confidence and their skills grow.
This year Lillian is also working as a staff writer for Gonzaga’s student-run newspaper, The Gonzaga Bulletin. When she is not tutoring or studying, she loves swimming, dancing, theater, and spending time with friends.
Sophia recently graduated cum laude from Lewis and Clark High School. She is now a freshman at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.
She plans to major in manufacturing & supply chain. She has always enjoyed math and is happy to teach students at Mathnasium!
Her hobbies include photography, traveling, and skiing during the winter
Lina is a junior at Gonzaga University majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish and Leadership studies. She is studying to potentially work in genetics research or as a genetic counselor. While at school, she works as an Organic Chemistry TA and is apart of the Setons of Gonzaga, a service organization volunteering in the Spokane area.
Lina has always loved math and the versatility of the subject, and how complex and simple the subject can be. In Lina’s free time she enjoys sailing, reading, and exploring Washington!
Meredith is a freshman at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where she's studying environmental engineering.
She's a 2020 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, where she led the LC astronomy club, played piano for the LC jazz band, and played cello in the Spokane Youth Symphony.
Meredith loves math because it's so versatile and can solve so many types of problems. In her free time, she enjoys playing her instruments, playing tennis, drawing, and spending time with her friends.
Mayla is from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She is currently a freshmanat in the Honors College at Western Washington University where she's studying mathematics.
Mayla graduated from Ferris High School where she excelled in AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science, AP English, AP Calculus BC and Japanese.
She loves being able to express a genuine appreciation for mathematics in an environment where people can learn from and even reciprocate it.
Spencer is junior at Carroll College, where's he's studying Data Science and Sports Management, and is a member of the cross country team.
Spencer is a life-long Spokane resident who graduated with a 3.96 GPA from Lewis and Clark High School, where his dad is a Spanish teacher.
Spencer served as a two-year captain for the LC cross country and track teams and helped cross country win a state championship his senior year. He earned A's in math classes up through AB Calculus and was also named GSL scholar athlete for his school.
