Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

Scott Kinsey, Center Director 

Scott is the Owner / Center Director at Mathnasium of Springfield.  Prior to opening his Mathnasium center, Scott worked for years with many leaders in the CPG market in both Operations and Continuous Improvement roles.  He has earned a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs).  Scott is a self-professed "Math Geek" and is very enthusiastic about helping every child in the Springfield community to truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them.  He has tutored children of all ages in math, and brings a sense of fun to math.  Married to his wife, Amy, they are raising a son, daughter, and dog. 


Sara, Instructor

Sara is an instructor at Mathnasium.  She has recently completed her B.S. in Mathematics, and is starting her M.S. in math.  She is from North Carolina, and she has years of experience tutoring and teaching math to students.  

The favorite part of this work for Sara is getting to help our students overcome mathematical obstacles, and gain confidence.

 Jonah, Instructor

Jon is an instructor at Mathnasium of Springfield.  He is currently studying for his M.S. in Math at  MSU.  He has experience with the MAKO Undergraduate Math Conference where he has presented high level topics.  He has a lot of experience with computer programming (Python, C++, HTML 5+).

He is currently teaching an intermediate algebra course at M.S.U.  This is the class to prepare students for College Algebra.

Jonah's favorite part of the job is working with students to build their strength and confidence in math.  

 Sydney, Instructor

Syndey is an instructor at Mathnasium.  She is currently studying secondary education in mathematics at Drury University.  She is also active in volunteering activities in our community.  She hails from the Little Rock Arkansas area.  She has a wealth of experience in the classroom with students of multiple ages.  

Sydney loves the continuity of mathematics, and helping students understand the concepts that they might have previously struggled with.  Her favorite number is 7. 

 Jake, Instructor

Jake is a Sophomore at Missiouri State University pursuing a B.S. degree in Mathematics.  He has a number of years of experience helping coach baseball, and this has allowed him to learn how to tailor a response to a student in such a way that the student feels better about themself for asking the question.  

When not at Mathnasium, Jake is active in his church, and of course, baseball.

Jon, Instructor

Jon is an instructor at Mathnasium of Springfield.  He is currently studying Mathematics and Civil Engineering at MSU, and is planning to pursure an advanced degree.  Jon brings a great deal of experience with students at VBS's, as well as tutoring.  He does an amazing job of making relating topics to students in a way that makes sense to them.


Jon's favorite part of the job is seeing the confidence of the student grow as they learn that they are "smart enough to do math."

Becca, Instructor

Becca's currently a student at M.S.U. pursuing a M.S. in Math with plans teach advanced high school students.  She brings a wealth of experience in tutoring math skills.  She has a B.S. in math from S.B.U. in Bolivar.  She has experience teaching at Bolivar High School where she taught lessons, developed learning plans, and tutored students in math.  


Becca's favorite part of job is interacting with students, and helping them make sense of the math.
