Center Director & Head Coach

Sachin Gore, Owner

Welcome, I'm Sachin!

While I am now a business owner and educator, my education and experience are actually in the field of engineering. I went to Penn State where I completed my BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering. I later completed my MBA at Drexel University. If you haven't figured it out by now, I grew up in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia!

I love teaching kids math because I feel math is such an important life skill and I know that many students find math to be frustrating and confusing. Using math to solve engineering and business problems was a key to my own success in my career. While math came relatively easy to me, my son, now a senior in high school, struggled to "get" math and I struggled to teach it to him in a way that made sense until we discovered Mathnasium!

During my engineering career, I worked at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan for a few years before moving to Minnesota to work at Andersen Windows in Bayport for 17 years. During that time, I had the opportunity to help start up a new factory, improve existing products and develop new products. I also recently taught math at a local private high school, so I have experience with kids in a classroom and understand how to support kids with school math.

In addition to living and working in the St. Croix Valley with my wife and son, I enjoy teaching personal finance, business, and entrepreneurship in K-12 classrooms as a Junior Achievement (JA) volunteer. I also lead the recreational soccer program for the St. Croix Valley Athletic Association (SCVAA) and mentor high school students through Rotary's STRIVE (Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education) program.

Math Assistant CoachShad Vork, Senior Math Coach

Hi, I’m Shad. I have a bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics.

I tutored math throughout college but went in an altogether different direction for a career. In the past few years, I tutored a couple of family members in high school math and ACT prep. Through this time, I remembered how much I love math as well as seeing others learn it.

My other interests include playing trombone with Stillwater’s Valley Concert Winds, playing games with my family and studying the Bible.

Math Assistant CoachDan Geister, Senior Math Coach

Hi!  I’m Dan and I am from River Falls, Wisconsin. I have a bachelor's degree in Geology.

I have been working in education since 2005 and at Rutherford Elementary in Stillwater since 2015. I've been also teaching at Mathnasium since 2016.

Outside of teaching I have an abundance of interests. I am involved with the Pierce County Historical Association and have a major interest in local history. This passion has led me to write two local history books. I also love Star Wars, consider myself an 80’s Music Enthusiast and Collector and I’m always on the hunt for old albums.

Math Assistant CoachRuby Suro, Math Coach

Hi, I'm Ruby! I am a sophomore at Stillwater Area High School. I am taking AP Calculus AB this year. Math has always been one of my passions. Helping others understand and thrive in math always makes me happy.

Along with math, I love to perform by acting, singing, and dancing. I sing in Stillwater High School's Belle Chanter choir, dance at Woodbury Dance Center, and do plays and musicals with several theaters. I enjoy speaking Chinese and hanging out with my family and friends.

Math Assistant CoachCeleste Nelson, @Home Center Director

Hi, I'm Celeste! I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics/secondary education and a master's degree in education. The past thirty years I have been working in the education field. Most of that time has been spent teaching middle school math and graduate level technology courses. Currently, I am the Math Interventionist for Hudson Middle School.

In 2018, I joined the Hudson Mathnasium in-center team. In the spring of 2020, I started working with Mathnasium@Home. I still do some instructing; however, my main responsibilities involve preparing the @Home classrooms and student materials. Two things I like the most about Mathnasium are the individualized learning plans and watching students develop their math skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my son and our dog. I love to travel, read, craft, watch movies, scrapbook via Shutterfly, and complete Sudoku puzzles.

Math Assistant CoachPhilip Herder, Higher Math Coach

Hi, I'm Philip. I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the Strenth & Conditioning program. I have a bachelor's degree in Exercise & Sports Science, with minors in Coaching and Sports Management.

I enjoy working with youth and helping them grow as individuals. Math was always my favorite subject growing up. The highest level of math I was able to do was Calculus and Statistics. I enjoy the challenge math offers and am ambitious to solve every problem.

My other interests include playing and watching sports, any activity outdoors, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.

Math Assistant CoachGail Gerdts, Math Coach

Hi, I'm Gail. I am a retired teacher. I have taught preschool through 12th grade in all subjects the last 35 years. My most recent experience was 21 years at Hudson Middle School as a Special Education teacher, with a focus on Learning Disabilities.

Teaching at Mathnasium@Home has been a fantastic experience for me. It allows me to do what I love, while staying home. I enjoy helping students that are finding something to be a challenge. I so enjoy watching them be uplifted when they understand a concept. I had a student tell me, "At first it is hard, then I start to get it half way. Then, I understand and it is easy".

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy family time. I have three children, a daughter and boy-girl twins that are all in college. I also enjoy sewing, reading, and traveling when times allows.
