Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Ellen Weinfeld

Center Director
Hello! My name is Ellen Weinfeld and I am very excited to be taking on the Center Director role at Mathnasium! I am a graduate of Rider University with a bachelor’s degree in History and TCNJ with a Master’s in Education. I am also a certified teacher in grades K-8 as well as Middle School Social Studies. I have worked for many years as an elementary classroom teacher in various grades and have several years of experience in supplementary education. I have taught students in all levels of math including Algebra, Geometry, and Exam Prep. Fun fact about me is that I love to bake! I also enjoy completing Sudoku puzzles in my spare time. I love watching students' excitement when they make connections and learn new concepts! I am most excited to help further the education and growth of all the students at Mathnasium in the best possible ways.

Bari

Instructor
After graduating from The Frisch School in the engineering track, Bari recently returned from spending a gap year in Israel, but as she is Matt's favorite instructor (and his daughter) she retains eternal rights to remain on this page. Currently, Bari is attending Washington University in St. Louis at the McKelvey School of Engineering. She was Captain of the Frisch Fencing Team, and President of the American Sign Language club. It was a fabulous experience for Matt to be able to work side-by-side with Bari, and if you're lucky, you'll see her online for her regular shift!

Jilma

Instructor
Jilma is a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, she is working towards her B.S. in mathematics as well as her MA in teaching. Her goal as a future teacher is to leave an impact on the growing generation, and Mathnasium will help her achieve this! When not hitting the books, she enjoys playing video games such as warzone and apex as long as there are no hackers! Favorite Movie: Divergent Favorite Joke: I could tell a joke about pizza but it's a little cheesy. Favorite Person: My Dad Favorite Book: The Maze Runner by James Dashner

Viviana

Instructor
I am Viviana Chavez, a proud Honors student in my Senior year at Fairleigh Dickinson University working towards my Math degree! At Mathnasium, I am able to express my passion for teaching in a relaxed environment. An experience I am very grateful for! When not studying, I enjoy playing volleyball, guitar/piano, going horseback riding, painting, and going to concerts. Favorite Movie: A Bug's Life Favorite Joke: "What kind of bug is in the FBI? A spyder!" Favorite Person: Her bestfriend, Andy Favorite Book: Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Nathalie

Lead Instructor
Hello! My name is Nathalie, but I go by Nat. My pronouns are she/hers. I’m stoked to introduce myself as the Lead Instructor at Mathnasium! I’m in my third year working towards a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in spacecraft mission design and orbital mechanics after having attained an A.A.S. in Engineering Mechanics and an A.S. in Aviation Flight Technology. Mathematics is vital to understanding how the world works, and it became my passion to teach how it is in different facets of everyday life. I decided to start working at Mathnasium because their curriculum breaks down concepts in a way that helps me teach more effectively and cultivate a fun learning environment for students. A fun fact about me is that I currently work on RDEs (Rotating Detonation Engines) for U.S. space flight capabilities under NASA. My favorite books are “The Happiness Hypothesis” by Jonathan Haidt and “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. I have a soft spot for Pixar-animated films, so my favorite movie series is Toy Story. When I’m not studying or working at Mathnasium, I fly a single-engine prop plane and build LEGO sets. I look forward to supporting current and future students in the best way possible.

Luis

Instructor
My name is Luis Fortuna. I hold a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics with minors in computer science and education, which I obtained from Fairleigh Dickinson University. I’ve liked math ever since I was a kid because it has incalculable value in many, if not all, real-life situations. As a result, teaching at Mathnasium allows me to make a meaningful contribution to my community by helping students develop the math skills necessary to tackle new challenges as well as build the confidence and knowledge they need to meet that goal. During my free time, I enjoy watching movies and shows; my favorite sitcom is The Big Bang Theory.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
