Conquering the Summer Slide, the Mathnasium Way

May 20, 2020 | Trinity-New Port Richey

According to Education Week, “education leaders are already bracing for a worse ‘Summer Slide’ this year for students whose schools were shut down to curb the spread of coronavirus.  But new research suggests the so-called coronavirus or ‘COVID Slide’ is going to be significantly worse.”

During the summer, students who don’t practice their math skills can lose as much as three months of learning or more with the schools’ shutdown. This not only hurts their retention of the material learned during the previous school year but can make it much harder to stay at the right pace during the next school year.  This summer learning loss can also have long-lasting effects, including lower test scores, lower self-confidence, and a lower chance of success in high school and college.

What is a concerned parent to do? Seek help!

At Mathnasium of Trinity-New Port Richey we offer two options to prevent and conquer this Summer Slide.  One is our new and proven Mathnasium@home platform where the student receives the same one-on-one instructor interface with Mathnasium materials as they would receive in the center.  The other is our In-Center sessions that will soon resume under careful CDC guidelines.  Any Mathnasium@home student can switch to In-Center sessions at any time.  Our Summer learning programs are not only effective but fun for the students! See the following testimonial:

“Mathnasium is amazing!!!  My kids used to hate math! Since I’ve enrolled them into Mathnasium, not only have they come to enjoy and love Math, but for the first time, math is easy for them. What a wonderful experience, that Mathnasium has provided my kids!”
