Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Mar 14, 2020

At Mathnasium, the well-being of our families is always our first priority. We are keeping up with the latest information on the coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), and want to share some notes with you on how we are working to keep our center the safest place it can be for your children.

We will remain open during the school closures. With this in mind, we are taking even greater precautions than we normally do to clean and disinfect our center. If you do not want your child to be at risk or exposed unnecessarily at our center, we understand. Please let us know.

The following are the measures we will have in place at our center:

  • Check-in:  We will check students in ourselves, instead of each student themselves.
  • Spacing: We will sit students in every other seat to keep them further from one another.
  • Waiting area: In the interest of reducing the number of extra people in the centers, we are asking parents to pick-up and drop-off only. If you would like to discuss your student’s work or anything with us, please call or text our number.
  • Hand Washing.
    • We are asking students to wash their hands when they arrive and before they leave.
    • Instructors will also be washing their hands when they arrive, and throughout their shifts.
  • Pencils: Students will be given a pencil to keep in their binder. If your child wants to bring their own pencil and eraser, they are welcome to.
  • Sanitizing.
    • We are frequently disinfecting high-touch surfaces, such as tables, chairs, door handles, light switches, etc.
    • We have hand sanitizer available at each instruction table
  • Games / Manipulatives.  During this period, games and manipulatives will be off limits.

If your student is exhibiting signs of a cold or the flu during their session, we will be asking parents/guardians to take them home. If your child is exhibiting symptoms at home, please wait until they’ve subsided before coming back to the center.

We will continue to follow the CDC’s guidance and will provide you with regular updates. Please feel free to reach out any time if you have concerns that we can address.
