Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

Jena Harris, Owner

Jena has always had a passion for children and helping others.  Prior to opening her Mathnasium, Jena worked as both a Director and Project Manager in the computer software industry.  Jena has a Master of Science in Management from the University of Maryland and Bachelors of Science in Management and Industrial Relations from Clarion University.  Having always wanted to do more for the community, Jena decided to use her business expertise to open a Mathnasium and is enthusiastic about helping every child truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them. In her free time, Jena enjoys watching her Philadelphia Eagles and spending time with her husband and two boys.

 

Samiesha King, Center Director 

Samiesha is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Waldorf. As a former Special Education Paraprofessional, Samiesha values the importance of education. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Her desire is to guide students in reaching their fullest potential. Samiesha is conscious of the various ways children learn and strongly believes that the Mathnasium Method of teaching will change the way students think about math and promote confidence in learning. In her free time, Samiesha enjoys painting and spending time with her son.

 

 

 

 

 

Jasmine Tolson, Instructor

Jasmine is currently working as an adjunct professor and tutor at Bowie State university, while pursuing her Master's degree in Applied and Computation Mathematics. Jasmine has been a tutor for Bowie State for six years, and continues to do so even after graduating in the Fall class of 2017. Throughout her years of tutoring, Jasmine has found a true passion for helping people understand math. In her spare time, she loves drawing, wathcing anime, and playing video games with her siblings.  

 

 

Christian Gomez, Instructor

 Christian is currently a Junior at Saint Charles High School. He enjoys math, science, and engineering. He is excited to begin Calculus this year. Christian is a leader in Boy Scout troop 424, where he leads younger scouts teaching them skills and requirement. He loves drawing, being outdoors, and scuba diving. Christian enjoys helping the community and performing on the Saint Chalres performing arts stage.

 

 

 

Sahil Patel, Instructor

Sahil is a Junior at North Point High School.He is also a state officer of SkillsUSA Maryland and an active member of North Points MESA club. During his  free time he love playing tennis and chess. After high school Sahil plans to attend a 4 year university to pursue a career in Computer Science or Business.

 

 

 

 

 

 Jesseki Kelly, Instructor

Jesseki graduated class of 2017 from Bowie State University with a bachelor's degree in Brodcast Journalism. She is currently working to begin her career as a children's book author and illustrator, hoping to promote diversity as well as celebrateing identity. Jesseki has a passion for drawing, writing, and puzzle-solving. Jesskei is most noteable for her infectious love for learning; a trait she tries to pass on to everyone she meets. In her free time she enjoys studying foreign languages, watching movies, and seeing plays.
