Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. CenterDirectorNicole Hackett, Center Director 

Nicole is a seasoned elementary math teacher.  Prior to her work at Mathnasium, she worked as an elementary and middle school teacher in Pinellas County Schools.  She holds a Bachelors Degree in Education with a minor in Mathematics from Warner University. Nicole also holds certifications in mathematics grades 6-12, science grades 5-9 and elementary grades K-6. She believes every child has the ability to learn in their own unique way.  Nicole loves seeing students reach that "aha" moment when whatever they are struggling with finally makes sense.  As a former teacher, Nicole knows the difference it makes when students are armed with confidence and the skills they need to be successful.  In her spare time, Nicole enjoys playing violin, painting, traveling and playing with her two dogs Mia and Libby.

Fun Fact:  My favorite word is "superfluous"

Whitney Detwiler, Lead Instructor

Whitney is a former middle-school math teacher, where she taught many different types of math classes, from 6th Grade Intensive Math to Honors Algebra.  Whitney was also the head Girls' Volleyball Coach!  She received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Florida State University (Go Noles!).   Whitney enjoys spending time with her husband and son, cooking, being outdoors, and traveling.

Fun Fact:  I lived in Florence, Italy for a semester in college!


Marcus Hammel, Lead Instructor 

Originally from San Jose, California Marcus graduated with a BFA in Art-Graphic Design from Molloy College in Long Island, NY.  Marcus has experience in tutoring students in math as well as training players of all ages in soccer. When not teaching young mathletes, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Fun Fact:  I share the same name as Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.


De'Ondre Scott, Instructor

About Me: De'Ondre was born in Texas, but he is a Floridian. He graduated with a B.S. from Florida Southern College. De'Ondre loves anything to do with math. He also loves to play basketball and watch soccer. De'Ondre is also pretty sure that he is the only person alive that still reads books!

Fun Fact: He survived getting hit by a truck!

Darren Tran, Instructor 

Darren is pursuing a biomedical engineering degree at the University of South Florida.  When he's not binging on math problems or episodes of American Horror Story, you can find him running, programming or reading.  Darren will often tell corny jokes while he's teaching but he knows cementing a strong understanding of math into the next generation is serious business!

Fun Fact:  I think Taylor Swift's songs are pretty catchy!


Teysia Edmead, Instructor

Teysia currently attends the University of South Florida in pursuit of a Biomedical Science bachelor degree. During the times that she is not having a blast at Mathnasium, she is at the Wrecking Hall roller skating! If she isn't skating, she is teaching her hyper pitbull puppy, Luna, new tricks at the dog park or beach.

Fun Fact:  I play a sport called roller derby!

Daniel Jones, Instructor

About Me: Daniel is a college student pursuing a management information systems degree at the University of South Florida. Daniel loves learning new things and helping others expand their own knowledge. He has greatly enjoyed math, science, and reading, but his favorite subject is history. Daniel loves learning so much that he has begun studying in an attempt to be on Jeopardy. When Daniel isn't learning random facts, he's out on the ice playing hockey or at home doing off-ice training.

Fun Fact: Daniel plays winger, usually left wing, in a hockey team called the Budweiser Kings in Brandon.

Jason Huertas, Instructor

About Me: Jason is currently a full-time Chemical Engineering student at the University of South Florida. He spends a lot of time doing mathematics for his classes, but he first developed his unique teaching ability as a teenager. He served as an assistant judo instructor and as the wrestling team captain. He was able to connect his love for math and teaching skills through his unique perspective that allowed him to be successful in both of mathematics and as a leader. Jason has a strong sense of humor and spends his spare time with friends and helping others.

Fun Fact: Jason learned how to say the alphabet backward in the 7th grade.

Sierra Herb, Instructor

About Me: Sierra is a sophomore at the University of South Florida studying biomedical engineering. In high school, she went to several math competitions and was Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society). She loves spending time in nature and listening to and playing music. She has been working for Mathnasium since 2016.

Fun Fact: She loves teaching and learning new things.

Zack Rosso, Instructor

Zack is a junior at Cambridge Christian School and loves helping people whenever he can.  He is a big brother and mentor to his two younger brothers, frequently helping them with their math and other life lessons.  Zack is a big hockey fan and diehard Lightning supporter (GO BOLTS!!!).  Zack has big plans after graduation, with a goal to attend Notre Dame University to major in chemical engineering.  

Fun Fact:  Although he appears to be a mild-mannered math whiz, Zack has a black belt in tae-kwon-do!


Nicholas Cosentino, Instructor

About Me: Nicholas is a senior at Sickles High School. He loves the Tampa Bay Lightning. He hopes to help kids enhance their math skills.

Fun Fact: Nick got a perfect score on his SAT!



Rohan Nadgir, Instructor

About Me: Rohan is a Junior attending Robinson High School's IB program. He loves both playing and watching soccer, and his favorite team is Machester City. Rohan loves reading and his favorite book is Eragon. He enjoys traveling and has been to Canada, Mexico, and New Zealand.

Fun Fact: Rohan's favorite place to be is in New Zealand.



Clark Collins, Instructor

About Me: Clark is a senior at Sickles High School. He will be pursuing an engineering degree at UCF after high school. Clark enjoys watching a variety of sports including, football, hockey, and baseball. He also enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.

Fun Fact: Clark competes in math competitions on his school's MAO (Math Honor Society) Team. Clark can also solve a Rubik's Cube.


Alex Tang, Instructor

About Me: Alex is a senior attending Sickles High School. She will be working for a degree in Veterinary Science after High School. Alex likes all types of music and art. She spenders her time hanging out with friends or volunteering. 

Fun Fact: Alex used to live in Puerto Rico for 5 years!

Nicholas Pustam, Seasonal Instructor

Nicholas is a senior at Sickles High School. He has a fascination with science and has enrolled in every science advanced placement course offered at the school.  Nicholas also enjoys sports, earning his varsity letter twice in lacrosse.  Nicholas is also president of the Spanish Honor Society. Impresionante!

Fun Fact:  I have traveled much of the world, including Europe, Central America, and Asia!



Faith Colaguori, Seasonal Instructor

About Me: Faith is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia (Go Yellow Jackets!). At Georgia Tech, Faith is involved in synthetic immunity and nanotechnology undergraduate research, the Society of Women Engineers, Engineers Without Borders, and marching band! When Faith is back home in Tampa, she loves spending her time tutoring the next generation of math superstars at Mathnasium, reading, blogging about books, hanging out with her family and puppy, and traveling! 

Fun Fact: I can play four instruments - clarinet, tenor saxophone, trombone, and piano!

Elli Harmon, Seasonal Instructor

About Me: Elli is planning to attend UCF in the fall to study actuarial science, a math-based major. She LOVES math. In high school, Elli took 5 additional math classes than she needed! She has three younger brothers, and she is in love with musical theatre! 

Fun Fact: Elli has been in over 25 productions!
