Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

Dylan Hall, Center Manager

After first mishearing a fellow student say she worked at "the Math Museum", which definitely needs to be a thing if it isn't already, Dylan had an interest in Mathnasium. He'd been helping students with math homework for years, even teaching parts of lessons during quiet work sessions if people were still confused. He started working at the Mathnasium of Denton in January of 2018 and hasn't looked back. Since then, he has also worked at the Mathnasium of New Braunfels where he became an Assistant Center Director in September of 2019. He is continuing his journey of teaching kids math, making them laugh and letting all students know that mistakes are perfectly fine! He is now the Center Manager of our West Houston location.

Andrea Springer, Area Manager

Andrea is currently attending University of Houston Clear Lake and is just a few courses away from graduating with a Business Management degree. After overcoming her fear of math and difficulties in Geometry, Andrea now loves math and finds it interesting. She has completed College Algebra, Pre-Cal, Finite Math, Statistics and Business Calculus. Andrea has been in the tutoring business for over 10 years, in tutoring and management roles. Her love for children and helping them overcome their fear of math is what she looks forward to every day. Andrea loves that “light-bulb” moment when children learn something new or finally grasp something that has been difficult for them. She enjoys changing lives through math!

Jodi Joostberns, Director of Education

Jodi has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Math from Hope College and graduated with her secondary teaching certificate. She also has a Master’s degree in Math Education and a Specialist’s degree in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College. Jodi has been teaching for 20 years and has taught all levels from 8th grade math to IB math studies. Jodi is also a certified gifted instructor. Jodi loves to teach and tutor because she loves to see the sense of great achievement when a student grasps a difficult math concept! She also believes that every student can succeed and excel with the proper tools and support.

Lauren Love, Director of Training

Lauren graduated from the University of Central Florida with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree focused on Mathematics Education and Psychology. She has mastered math skills in the areas of College Algebra, Calculus I – Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Statistics I & II. Lauren developed a passion for math education during her first two years of high school, and it continued throughout her college years. She believes that math is meant to be challenging and enjoyable, not frustrating and scary. Since starting at Mathnasium in 2011, she has enjoyed the continued success of her students and inspiring them to love math as much as she does.

Ed Farner, Chief Operating Officer

Ed has been a multi-unit leader for over 15 years and has had the pleasure of working with two Fortune 500 companies during his leadership career. His focus has always been on developing the best team to deliver the most incredible and memorable customer experience. “Love what you do, be the best at it, and success will follow.” He has always had a passion for coaching and teaching others. He has coached his son's and daughter’s little league baseball and softball teams, and has volunteered his time as a coach for the Catholic Youth League basketball, soccer, and football teams. His passion to lead and help others has led him to join the Mathnasium team as the District Manager. Ed is honored to lead a team of Center Managers in helping math make sense for all of our students.

Mo Khalil, Executive Director

Mo graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2000. While at Marist, Mo was able to use his math talent to master advanced Calculus, Statistics and Probability courses. With Mathnasium, Mo has found his dream career doing what he loves the most, teaching and math. Mo opened his first center in 2011 and his team operates multiple centers in various states. Mo and his team are proud to be the #1 Mathnasium Franchise team in the United States since 2014. Mo and his wife, Julie, are raising 2 young “mathletes.” Mo is very proud to change children's attitudes towards math and develop “Number Sense.”
