  • What different enrollment options are available?
    • Group sessions
      • Monthly enrollment (8/12/16 sessions)
      • 10 Sessions package (3 months validity)
    • Private 1-1 Sessions
    • Add-On Sessions
  • What does a typical Mathnasium session look like?
    • A typical group session involves one instructor working with 3-4 students. Each of the students is working on their own individual math topics, and the instructor moves between students to teach them each topic, while also providing independent work time. Each student normally splits their time between 2-3 topics each session to ensure that they are working on a variety of math skills during their time here and not burning out doing only one topic.
  • Can my student bring in their math homework?
    • Of course! Our instructors are happy to provide assistance with math homework during a student's session. To ensure that instructors can properly split their time between students, math homework is limited to last 20 mins of their session, with the former time of the session spent on topics assigned in the student's learning plan. If you would rather that sessions focus entirely on homework, please check out our options for private sessions.
  • How do I know if I should enroll my student in private or group sessions?
    • We find that most students do very well in our group sessions. However, you may want to consider private sessions if your student:
      • is Kindergarten or younger
      • Requires extensive help with schoolwork
      • Struggles to remain focused in a group environment
    • We will always provide feedback and recommendations if it seems that your student would benefit from changing their session style.
  • How often is it recommended that students attend?
    • Our general recommendation is that students attend 2 to 3 times a week, but we have a variety of different options to fit your family's schedule and your individual student.
  • How do I schedule my student's sessions?
  • What is the policy for cancellations/rescheduling?
    • Group Sessions
      • Cancellations/Rescheduling: 24 hours in advance to avoid penalty
    • Private sessions:
      • Cancellations/Rescheduling: 48 hours in advance to avoid penalty
  • What do I do if I want to take a break from Mathnasium?
    • If you want to reduce your number of sessions for future month(s), or take a break entirely, just let us know before the month begins. We will then prorate your sessions for that month and adjust your enrollment accordingly.
  • How can I stay up-to-date on my student's progress?
    • There are a lot of ways that you can check your student's progress! At any time, you can go online to our Guardian Portal to see your student's up-to-date progress on their learning plan. We also send out monthly progress reports at the end of the first week of each month detailing the progress that your student has made in the last month.
    • If you would like more information as to how your student is doing, you can schedule a one-on-one meeting with our Center Director to discuss their current progress and any concerns that you may have.
    • And of course, you are welcome to ask questions whenever you come by our center, our Center Director is always happy to answer a couple of quick questions!
  • Does Mathnasium send work home with students?
    • No, we encourage students to bring in homework if they need help.
  • How does the Rewards work?
    • Whenever your student does math at Mathnasium, they're earning stars, and for every 25 stars that they get, they earn a card that they can exchange for prizes!
    • You can check out Online Rewards Store
  • Will my student's work at Mathnasium match up with what they are doing in school?
    • At Mathnasium, we customize each students Learning Plan to their individual level, not their grade level, and so their content at Mathnasium won't always line up with what they are learning in school. However, if your student would like some additional help with a particular topic, or help with prepping for an exam, we are happy to provide additional content matching what they are doing in school, just let us know!
  • How quickly will we see improvement?
    • As each student is different, we cannot provide an exact time frame for your student's improvement. Mathnasium is a long term commitment and not short term. In general, we find that it takes a student an average of 2-3 sessions to master each topic in their Learning Plan. This pace changes based on the individual topic, how often the student is coming in, and the student's individual learning speed.
