When Should Kids Start Learning Math?

Hi this is Macy, your Center Director at Mathnasium of St Peters North! Parents often wonder when is the BEST time to start introducing their child to math, thinking that math is just adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, etc. But it's not! Math concepts are being introduced even as young as infancy!!

I received a progress report recently which was nice to have some feedback but more frequent communication would be helpful to have a better gauge on progress especially when it can take some time for the work to correlate with grades in school. This would be a good tool to have because sometimes poor results on a test can be discouraging for both kids and adults but seeing information that highlights achievement of certain skills mastered can help with the dialogue. Overall I’m seeing more confidence in my daughter’s abilities and improved grades which is encouraging! I also appreciate the great partnership with the owner, very professional and responsive.

Never expected for my granddaughter to keep an "A" during her 8th grade year. Math has always been very challenging for her throughout her school experience, but now she loves this subject like I never expected her to. Thanks to Mathnasium for all you have done to raise her self esteem. Now there is no stopping her. She LOVES MATH.

David and the team have been excellent in getting the kids right from the start line and making them not only catch up with their peers but also outperform them. The curriculum, coaching, and the repetition till kids understand and are fully familiar with the math concepts are truly impressive. Mathnasium is the place for any kid who struggles with early math problems. Highly Recommended! ~ A happy parent.

Sebastian start no longer ago and since he started we saw a great improve in his math skills , specially his understanding , he is getting 80's and 100's in his tests, and teacher said he is improving tremendously. I can't thanks enough for the great job they are doing with him .
Our house is much more in peace at homework time now. :)

My son has seen remarkable improvement in his math skills since beginning Mathnasium. It has had a profound affect on his confidence in school. I don’t know where he’d be without this incredible resource. I highly recommend Mathnasium to any parent who has a child struggling with math, or even a child who wants to be better at math. The program is a successful concept made even better by the team of instructors led by David. Everyone is knowledgeable, patient and fun and yet capable of being stern and assertive when the behavior of my kids call for it. We go to "math camp" practically every day with no fussing at all. I am extremely pleased with how much they have learned and even more excited with how their attitudes have changed toward math and learning! I am looking forward to the homework help when school resumes! (2nd and 3rd grade)

Mathnasium has done a great job working with our 7 year old daughter. Before this program, she was overwhelmed and frustrated with math, and now she enjoys it because your program has made it fun. She looks forward to going each week and continues to go on-site, since she likes the in-person interaction and enjoys seeing her instructors.

Matthew has gained so much confidence now that he has mastered many of the math concepts that had escaped him during school. It’s amazing to see the transformation both in his attitude about math, and his grades! The staff is wonderful and so positive and encouraging. We are very grateful to them. Mathnasium has been so good for our son. He has always done great in school and this year with Pre-Algebra, Math was all of a sudden hard. We took him to Mathnasium and after a few visits, he gets it. He looks forward to going and when it’s time to be done, he always says just a few more minutes. With just a handful of visits he is staring to get his confidence back and he is even excited when he gets problems right on homework! It truly is a fun, rewarding program.

When we enrolled our son in Mathnasium, he wasn't excited to spend two hours a week doing math during his summer vacation. The staff has done an excellent job, providing the one-on-one instruction he's been missing in the school classrooms. We hoped Mathnasium would help him sharpen his math skills before entering the sixth grade, but to our surprise he's actually enjoying the subject for the first time and is excited to apply what he's learned as he enters middle school. Highly recommended!
