ACT program description:
The ACT math skill assessment will identify any math skill gaps that are lacking yet necessary to pass the ACT test. In many cases a short review of the math skill is all that is needed. For example: Perhaps the student needs a refresher on how to multiply and divide fractions, or use the Pythagorean theorem.
Students will use the Mathnasium ACT Workout Book. The purpose of this book is to help students develop the mind set (an “ACT State of Mind”) and refine the concepts and skills necessary for success on the ACT; including test taking strategies.
The ACT Workout Book is separated into the following three sections.
FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS - This problem set reviews fundamental skills from pre-algebra
to trigonometry, necessary for problem solving.
INTERMEDIATE CONCEPTS - This problem set reviews problems that are solved
using standard formulas and algorithms.
ADVANCED CONCEPTS - This problem set reviews problems that test a student’s
knowledge of major math concepts. These problems require students to use
critical thinking skills or non-routine problem solving skills with those concepts.
