Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there – this one’s for you!
Looking for a fun, creative way to celebrate Father’s Day at home? Why not turn your lounge room, kitchen or playroom into an exciting Indoor Maths Adventure? It’s the perfect mix of laughs, learning and family time – and a great way to make memories with Dad (while adding in some sneaky sums!).
Here’s how to set up your Indoor Maths Adventure:
1. Number Treasure Hunt 🔍
Hide numbered cards or objects around the house. Each number leads to a simple maths question that Dad (and the kids!) must solve to find the next clue.
For example:
"Look under the chair with number 12. What’s 6 x 2?"
Solve it right to move on to the next clue! First one to the prize wins a small treat or gets to give Dad a big bear hug.
2. Maths Relay Challenge 🏃♂️➕🏃♀️
Set up "maths stations" around the room. To move to the next spot, everyone (including Dad!) must solve a maths puzzle.
Ideas:
You can even time each round to see who’s the quickest maths master!
3. Shape Search 🔺⚫⬛
Who can find the most shapes inside?
Challenge the family to spot:
✔ Something circular (a clock? a plate?)
✔ Something square (a cushion?)
✔ Something triangular (the corner of a book?)
Dad gets bonus points for funny or creative answers!
4. Guess Dad’s Numbers! ❓👨
Make Dad the star of the maths fun with some number trivia:
Everyone makes a guess – the closest answer wins a prize or a point!
5. Scoreboard & Medal Ceremony 🏅
Keep track of points as you go (great way for kids to practise adding!) and finish with a mini awards ceremony:
🏆 "Top Problem Solver"
🏆 "Best Shape Finder"
🏆 "Dad of the Day"
Hand out homemade medals, paper ribbons or even crowns – Dad will love the VIP treatment!
This Father’s Day, make it a celebration that counts – with puzzles, laughs, and family fun right in your own home. Happy Father’s Day – and enjoy the adventure!
