Celebrate Pi Day with Mathnasium: Fun, Maths and Circles Galore!

Mar 5, 2026 | Chatswood

At Mathnasium, we love any excuse to celebrate maths, and Pi Day is one of our favourites. But first, let’s answer the big question:

What’s Pi, Anyway?

Pi (π) is a magical number that helps us understand circles. It’s roughly 3.14, but here’s the mind-blowing part, it goes on forever without repeating. That means no matter how far you calculate, you will never find an end or a repeating pattern.

You can spot Pi everywhere, from measuring the area of a circle to exploring waves and even studying space. In fact, mathematicians have calculated Pi to over 62 trillion digits. Don’t worry, you will not need to memorise all of them to celebrate. Pi Day is all about enjoying the wonder of numbers, not stressing over decimals.

Why We Celebrate Pi Day

Pi Day, on 14 March (3.14), is a perfect reason for us at Mathnasium to bring maths to life in a fun, hands-on way. Here is why it is so special:

  • It is Albert Einstein’s birthday. A genius who changed how we see the world, which is fitting for a maths celebration.
  • Pi is irrational in more ways than one. It never ends and never repeats, just like the possibilities in learning maths.
  • A little fun coincidence. Flip 3.14 upside down and it kind of looks like the word “PIE”. Sweet, right?

Pi Day at Mathnasium: Join the Fun!

We are inviting everyone, students, parents and friends, to our FREE Pi Day Party, contact us for more details! Expect a mix of games, challenges and prizes to get you in the Pi spirit.

Keep the Pi Spirit Going at Home

Even if you cannot make it to our party, or want to extend the fun, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Pi at home.

  • Pi Hunt. Look around your house for circular objects and measure their circumference and diameter. Can you calculate Pi yourself?
  • Pi Art. Draw or craft circles and decorate them with digits of Pi or patterns.
  • Pi Baking. Make a sweet Pi-themed treat, maths has never tasted so good.
  • Memorise a few digits of Pi. Start small and then see how far you can go. Make it a challenge with friends.
