What do you like most about learning?
I like to understand the world around me. I wish more people understood more about the world around them, too.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
We've had a number of students over the years who have gone through Mathnasium's program and are now instructors! Even for kids who don't love math, just showing them that they belong and their abilities matter makes a big impact too!
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
I really enjoy teaching kids about divisbility rules and showing them connections that factors show up in all sorts of things: fractions, prime and composite numbers, ratios, and so on... I also love geometry (not proofs, though!) because our physical world is made up of shapes and measures!
How do you make learning math fun for students?
Geometry is math that makes me say, "Gee!" and by the way, it's "Gee, Imma Try!" and not "Gee, Imma Give Up!" I love to make kids cringe with my bad puns.

What do you like most about learning?
Many of the things I learn aren’t as obvious as they first seem. I like going beyond what I take at face value and figuring out what’s going on at a deeper level.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
My instruction is most impactful when I facilitate a feeling of individual discovery. Those “eureka!” moments are my favorite part of Mathnasium, because they always come from a true leap in understanding.
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
Math is arguably the most abstract area of study one can learn. While it is certainly interesting by itself, I derive the most enjoyment from its applications, especially physics.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I find that students often become bored and disinterested when they don’t understand the reasoning behind the formulae or methods they’re applying. Instead, deriving these ideas from intuition is not only more rewarding, but also more fun and engaging.

What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
Calculus
How do you make learning math fun for students?
By presenting them with multiple learning styles for each student. I personalize their learning.

What do you like most about learning?
Seeing how the topics you learn apply to the world around you. I find that really interesting and satisfying.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
I've seen kids gain a grasp on a topic they didn't previously understand, and link it to something they've learned before.
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
I enjoy teaching Algebra the most.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I try and engage students on their terms, I find it easier to talk with them and they seem to like Mathnasium more than the teaching, say, at school.

What do you like most about learning?
I love being able to apply what I have learned to real life situations. I think learning is more than just digesting the facts, but also having to apply critical thinking skills, which tells you why the facts matter.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
A lot of students come into the center scared to attempt problems by themselves, worrying about getting wrong answers. I hope that I have reassured students to always apply themselves and not worry about making mistakes when learning new things.
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
Algebra because it's so important in more difficult types of math.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I really like having conversations with kids while they do their work, asking them questions about their work themselves.
