Tricia Chapman
Center Director
Tricia Chapman holds undergraduate degrees from Rutgers University and Kean University, as well as a Master’s in Education from Georgian Court University. She is a certified K–12 Teacher of Mathematics and a Teacher of Students with Disabilities. Tricia joined Mathnasium of Toms River in 2012.
Over a decade later, she continues to thrive in her role, now serving as Center Director. Tricia is proud to help students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of math. She brings a strong commitment to creating a positive, engaging learning environment where every student can succeed.
Wayne Gray
Founder
Wayne Gray earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Trenton State College and spent 34 years teaching fifth and sixth grade in the Toms River School District. Following his retirement, he opened Mathnasium of Toms River, bringing his lifelong love of education, and especially mathematics, into a new chapter.
Wayne takes great pride in helping students in his community develop their math skills and grow in confidence. He and his wife Barbara raised three daughters, two of whom are educators. Wayne’s continued passion for teaching has made a lasting impact through Mathnasium’s student-centered approach.
Barbara Koehler
Founder
Barbara Koehler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Education, and certifications as both a reading specialist and early childhood educator. She spent 15 years teaching third grade and 17 years as a gifted and talented teacher for grades K–6.
Barbara's love for math and passion for helping students succeed led her to co-found Mathnasium of Toms River. She is dedicated to giving every child the opportunity to achieve success in math and build lasting confidence through engaging instruction and personalized learning support.
Neil Rankin
Founder
Neil Rankin holds a Bachelor of Science from Trenton State College, now The College of New Jersey. He spent 33 years as a fifth-grade teacher in the Toms River School District before opening Mathnasium of Toms River as part of his retirement plan.
Neil enjoys teaching math in a way that makes sense to students and takes great satisfaction in helping them succeed. His years of classroom experience continue to shape the welcoming and supportive atmosphere of the center, where students feel encouraged to grow their skills and love of math.
