Mathnasium of Tallahassee Earns National Award as One of the Best Math Tutoring Locations for New Mathnasium Learning Centers

Jul 24, 2019

Each year, during Mathnasium Learning Center’s international conference, top performing centers are recognized.  During the 2019 conference, held in Toronto, July 14-16, Mathnasium of Tallahassee received the Rising Star Award, recognizing locations that had the best first 12 months of math tutoring operations.

Mathnasium of Tallahassee, which is owned and operated by long-time Tallahassee residents Lisa and Doug Luciani, ranked as the third best math tutoring center of the more than 100 new Mathnasium U.S. locations to open in 2017.

“We are honored and humbled to be recognized with this award and are grateful for the support of our Mathletes, their families, and our instructor team,” shared Lisa Luciani, Mathnasium of Tallahassee owner and Center Director.  “We feel fortunate to be a part of our student’s lives and help them improve their math skills and academic progress.”

It’s been a busy summer for Tallahassee’s highest rated math-only learning center.  In June, they introduced their Mathnasium @home instruction option to complement the in-center instruction. Mathnasium @home provides students real-time face-to-face instruction online via a web camera.  Then in July, they expanded by moving into a bigger location at Bannerman Crossings.

Mathnasium of Tallahassee works with students in elementary, middle and high school.  When children enroll at Mathnasium, they are given a math assessment, allowing the instructor team to create an individualized learning plan for each student.  Those who are gifted and advanced in math can explore concepts deeper and faster than they might experience in school.  Those who are struggling or behind, receive the appropriate instruction to help address skill gaps and get assistance on their school homework.

“After spending nearly 20 years in math education, both in the classroom and then working for a math textbook publisher, I know students and parents have a wide range of feelings when it comes to math and math learning,” explained Luciani.  “Some love math, some are intimidated by the subject.  It’s important to us to find the best solution for each student and then teach math in a way that makes sense to the individual.”

The Mathnasium Method uses a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques to help children really understand math.  It goes beyond rote memorization of facts and provides true instruction of concepts and their applications.

“We’ve raised our son here and have been active in the schools and the community,” added Doug Luciani.  “We are excited to bring this proven math teaching method to students here in the Big Bend and South Georgia, building their confidence to succeed.”

Located in Bannerman Crossings, 3439 Bannerman Road, Ste. 101, Mathnasium of Tallahassee offers math tutoring year-round for students.
