NWDC Students: Changes to the ACT this Fall

Sep 3, 2020 | Cathedral Heights

Many colleges and universities use the SAT and/ or ACT as a guide to help predict a student’s ability to succeed academically. Starting in September 2020, the ACT will begin implementing three new changes:

- sectional retesting,

- ability to test online,

- superscored results.

Let’s take a look at how each of these changes impact you.

“Sectional retesting” means that you will be able to focus on individual test sections to increase their composite score. For example, a student who struggled on the math section can focus on improving their math score during their next attempt, rather than repeating (and studying for) every section.

Also starting in September 2020, the ACT test will be available online. The benefits of the new online testing include being able to take the test in the comfort of your own home and the results will be available within two days.

Finally, the ACT will be “superscored” meaning your overall score will be composed of the best scores from each subject across multiple tests.

This is great news! These changes allow you to target specific skills needed to improve your score - and have your hard work reflected in your final score.

We can help you take advantage of these changes. At Mathnasium of Cathedral Heights, we work with our ACT Math Prep students to build the skills and the confidence needed to be successful. Our ACT Prep process is highly customized to each student’s needs. We identify and fill in knowledge gaps to help them sequentially master key ACT topics. We work through practice ACT problems and provide test-taking strategies.

Our approach increases your confidence so you are more relaxed going into the test. Don’t wait until the last minute - let’s get started today so you can perform your best!

The next step is to schedule your complimentary assessment today either via video-conference or in our Cathedral Heights center. You can also give us a call at (202) 888-6882.
