Beat the Spring and Summer Slide this Year with Mathnasium @Home

Apr 10, 2020 | Chula Vista

Staying safe and transitioning to classes from home has left many students feeling like summer vacation came early this year, and has led to a steep drop in motivation and enthusiasm for school, especially when it can feel like classes from home feel disengaging or dull, and even more so for students who were behind or struggling in school even before the transition to online clases. This "spring slide" compounded with many students also not brushing up on their academic skills over the summer can lead to even more learning loss than usual when school picks back up again in the fall, and can leave students even less prepared for the next year of learning.

When it comes to math, unfortunately for students who may not enjoy it quite yet, or feel it is intimidating, even minor learning loss can have long-lasting and severe effects. Math each school year builds upon what students should have learned from the previous year, in terms of concepts and also skills, and for students who are struggling to stay on top of their online classes and stay engaged, they can very quickly fall behind academically and also struggle with their confidence as a result when they return to school and feel overwhelmed.

Luckily, even from the comfort home, students can experience that Mathnasium difference each day. Mathnasium @home introduces interactive, real time math help with the instructors our students already know and love, same as in-center, but done safely and comfortably from home via video conferencing. Our @home students enjoy staying engaged, challenging themselves, and catching up on past gaps, or getting ahead for next year, even working on homework with their usual instructors from wherever!
