Getting Over Our Fear of Math this Spooky Season

Oct 11, 2019 | Chula Vista

Now that October and Halloween time are in full swing, we at Mathnasium are loving it! We're getting our costumes ready (nothing too scary of course!) and putting up our decorations (come by and visit our brand new learning center for kids of all ages, just off Bonita Road, to see some of our decorations so far!).

However, all festivities aside, even if October is spooky, math doesn't have to be scary! For many students, whether we've fallen behind or are still doing well in math, math class can still be a source of anxiety or fear, and as a result, we can become disengaged, continue struggling or struggle even more, and experience stress during homework time. For parents too, math class and math time at home can be very stressful - we may feel helpless or frustrated watching our students struggle or show disinterest in their education, especially if we're struggling to help them as well with their homework, because of common core curriculum confusion, or otherwise.

Mathnasium specializes in individualized education, allowing us to help students regardless of their current performance in math - ahead, keeping up, behind, in the process of catching up, etc. and our math program produces incredible results over time because we meet kids where they are, so it's never too hard or too easy for them, just right, so it's engaging and challenging without being intimidating! With consistent attendance and participation, we see more than 80% of our students improving their attitude and confidence about math, and almost 90% improving their understanding, and their grades as a result.

We make math fun and accessible, but most importantly, not scary! There are so many other (funner and more exciting) Halloween experiences in store - haunted houses, scary movies, and trick-or-treating - to be hung up being scared about math! Give us a call now and see what treats we offer!
