Betsy Washburn

Betsy Washburn

Owner
Betsy grew up in Glendale, Arizona, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Arizona State University. In 1995, Betsy moved to Southeast Missouri where she obtained her teaching certificate and began teaching junior high and high school mathematics. Betsy has 11 years classroom experience in teaching mathematics and has a passion for helping students find success in math. Betsy has also earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor’s University. While in Kansas City, Missouri, Betsy was lucky to be the Center Director for Mathnasium of Blue Valley, a very successful center in Overland Park, KS. This experience fueled a strong passion for the Mathnasium method and helping students make sense of math. Betsy has two grown children, Cole and Riley. They, as a family, recently returned to the Phoenix area and love it. In her spare time, Betsy loves to read, travel, spend time with her family.

Tammie Yoakum

Hello, my name is Tammie Yoakum, and I grew up in Glendale with my sister/co-owner, Betsy. Before I started working in the center full time, I had a 30-year career in the premium finance industry. I was blessed to have that career, but Mathnasium is a ton more fun. The best part of being at Mathnasium is to see the "aha" moments and to see a students confidence grow. When I'm not working, I like spending time with my family and friends. I also love music, movies, reading and traveling.

Corey Muren

Center Director
Hi my name is Corey Muren. I am a former middle school math teacher of 15 years. I enjoy working with students, getting them to see the benefit in their learning, and helping them build their confidence. I love the environment of Mathnasium! Our students enjoy coming, and look forward to their sessions. As we work, students become involved in their learning plan, and the progression of it. I love to see how proud of themselves they become.

Mary Savidge

Assistant Center Director
Hello, my name is Mary Savidge. I am a retired Math teacher. I love Math and how logical it is. I love children and watching them figure things out. Mathnasium combines both of those and I am grateful to be the Assistant Director and instructor. The atmosphere at the Mathnasium center is positive, fun, and exciting. A perfect learning environment.

Adam Gramlich

Hello! My name is Adam, and I am currently a junior at Pinnacle High School. Math has always been my favorite subject in school, and my experience with Mathnasium dates back to when I entered the first grade. They provided enrichment opportunity for me and help for my sister, so I am very excited to be a part of connecting other students to that experience as well. Outside of school, I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with friends, and playing basketball either through Pinnacle or through the Southwest Rebels PBA.

Hi. My name is Lillian Urena, and I have been an instructor since 2020, and a lead instructor since the start of 2022. I am attending college in the fall and will be studying computer science.

Vipul Gupta

Hello I am Vipul Gupta, and I am currently freshman at Arizona State University. My first encounter with Mathnasium was actually as a student and I can confidently say the instructors are some of the most caring and knowledgeable people you will ever meet. I love knowing that I have a part in a student’s new found confidence and understanding. I like watching movies and making scale models in my free time.

Sareena Gupta

Hi! My name is Sareena Gupta, and I am a Junior at Pinnacle High School. I have always loved math and science, especially Algebra. My first experience at Mathnasium was as a student, and I loved the positive energy and kindness of everyone at the center. I hope to help students feel more confident and secure in their math skills. I also love to do drama, choir and musical theatre as well as bake in my free time!

Hi, my name is Vriddhi Rohila, but I go by Vivi! I was previously a student at Mathnasium, but now I'm an instructor. I'm a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. Math has always been my strongest subject, and I really enjoy it. I enjoy spending my free time outside and listening to music.

Hi, my name is Hudson Roddy, and I am currently a senior at Pinnacle High School. I came to Mathnasium because I have always had a love for math and teaching kids. I joined Mathnasium because I had thought of how my favorite teachers had gone above and beyond to give me a rich and fulfilling education, and I wanted to share that with others. Some of my hobbies and interests include reading, computer programming, and robotics.

Efrain Velasco

Hello! My name is Efrain Velasco and I am happy to be an instructor for your child here at Mathnasium! I studied Physics at Arizona State University and Mathematics at Glendale Community College. I play Piano, Chess, and study Software Engineering on the side! One thing I love more than pushing pawns and positioning knights is inspiring students to solve mathematical problems in an optimized manner. A way that makes sense to them! I am thankful for the opportunity to work here.

Neha Kollipara

Hi! My name is Neha Kollipara, and I'm currently a senior at BASIS Phoenix. I have always loved math because of its widespread applicability to day-to-day things and because it's where people can buy 73 pineapples without anyone questioning them. Teaching has always been something I have been passionate about, as it's a delight seeing students have their lightbulb moment when a concept finally clicks. Every math problem is like a new puzzle, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to heighten students' appreciation for math, hone their math skills, and boost their confidence in the process. During my free time, I relish playing guitar, volleyball, and painting.

Hello, my name is Riddhi! I'm currently a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. I've always had a love for math and finding out the solutions to complex problems. I also love helping out others figure out why I love math so much. In my free time, I love reading, buying manga and watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I also love listening to music and spending time with my family.

Hi, I’m Bryson Carlson! I am a student at Pinnacle High school. I’ve always found math to be very fascinating and engaging. Teaching has been very fulfilling to me. In my free time, I do Track and Field for Pinnacle as well as volunteering, playing instruments, and other extracurriculars through Pinnacle.

Lexi Boeder

Hello! My name is Lexi Boeder. I am a Sophomore at Pinnacle High School. I have always loved math, but more than anything I have always loved being with kids. I decided to join the Mathnasium team because I thought it would be a fun way to spend time with kids while improving their math skills (and my own). At Pinnacle I am very involved in Choir and I am on the Student Board responsible for launching Pinnacle’s first Show Choir. Additionally, I have an insatiable passion for reading books.

Hey! My name is Abhi, and I am a junior at Paradise Valley High School in the CREST Bioscience Program. You can also catch me on the court with Paradise Valley's basketball team. A few of my favorite interests include cars, sports, and video games. I'm excited to take the opportunity Mathnasium has gave me to enrich myself and students and hope to help many more moving forward.

David Hampton

Hello, my name is David Hampton. I am an online instructor here at Mathnasium. I am currently in my first year of college at ASU, where I study Biomedical Sciences. I graduated high school from Fountain Hills High School with an Honors Diploma. I also have six years of high school math experience, as I started Algebra 1 in 7th grade. I also know how to play several instruments with experience in high school and middle school band, and have obtained varsity letters from Track and Field and Cross Country.

Hello! My name is Kameron Cochrane. Math has always been a fascinating and useful subject for me in school, so I decided to join the Mathnasium team to help share the world of mathematics to kids in fun and interactive ways. Besides my studies, I am involved in theater, biological research and volunteering for a variety of organizations.

Hi! My name is Vinnie Caggiula and I'm currently enrolled as a freshman in Computer Science at Arizona State University. I'm very passionate about fundamental and object-based learning, and I hope to share my expertise through becoming a Mathnasium tutor. Aside from math, I'm very passionate about music production and songwriting.

Shubham Kale

Hello! My name is Shubham Kale, and I am currently a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. Ever since I was just a little kid, I always had a passion for math, and teaching in general, as I have participated in many math competitions. I hope to help students improve at math and develop a passion for it, the same way I did. Outside of Mathnasium, I enjoy playing basketball, chess, playing with my dog, and hanging out with my family!

Hi my name is Druv, and I am a junior at Paradise Valley High School. In my free time I like to play soccer. I have always had an interest in math, and I like working at Mathnasium because it allows me to help other students.

Arnab Misra

Hi, my name is Arnab Misra and I am a junior at BASIS Phoenix. I love teaching students and helping them grow not only with their knowledge but also as better people. I also love volunteering and helping others and I think the Mathnasium is a fantastic opportunity to help my community through teaching math. A few of my interests include soccer for both varsity and my club Sc del Sol, and music where I have played trombone for 6 years in band and the piano for 12 years.

Hi! My name is Surabhi Abhilash and I'm a freshman at Pinnacle High School. I joined Mathnasium because I love to teach. I want students to learn to love math like I have. Hey, my name is Aris Rajwani and I’m a sophomore at Pinnacle High school. I have always loved math and before becoming an instructor, I was actually a student here! The feeling I experienced every time I entered was incredible as I felt it was a second home. In my free time, I play basketball and the drums.

Hello, my name is Jazlyn and I'm currently a sophomore at Desert Mountain High School. Math has always been my favorite subject and I am so excited to pass my knowledge onto Mathnasium students! I have participated in several math competitions and am a member of my school's Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. In my free time, I like to practice guitar, play tennis, and paint.

Hello! My name is Shivani and I am currently enrolled at Pinnacle High School. Math was always my favorite and strongest subject. I have always believed numbers are better than words. I hope to use my knowledge to help others and make them feel more confident in themselves! During my time away from school, I enjoy practicing karate, watching movies, and jamming out to my favorite songs. I also play lacrosse for Pinnacle. I am so excited to be a part of this amazing community!

I've always been interested in math education which has shaped my attitude toward explaining math concepts in a way that ensures that ideas are explored in a way that is intuitive and approachable. In my free time, I like to play piano and work on small coding projects.
