Garry Klegin, Owner
Garry has had a long and successful business career and is currently a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial. He holds an MBA and CPA. Garry is a proud father of two adult sons who both attended the University of Virginia. Garry has always been a strong proponent of education and mathematics in particular. Garry is a firm believer in helping all children reach their true potential. Here at Mathnasium, Garry and the rest of the team strive to accomplish a fun and effective learning environment every day.

Karen Cooper, Curriculum Director
Karen has over 20 years of experience in education and holds a Masters Degree in Education and Curriculum Development. Karen has been involved in both the public school system as well as private mathematics instruction. She is very passionate about providing students the best framework for success. Karen is the Curriculum Director and will be working closely with all the Instructors.
Kwaku A., Lead Instructor
Kwaku is a Professional Engineer registered in the state of Virginia. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from George Mason University, Fairfax VA and was a teaching/research assistant in grad school (Analytical Geometry & Calculus I and II). He loves helping students understand basic mathematical concepts and real-life applications. In his spare time, Kwaku loves scenic photography and playing video games.
Crystal W.,Lead Instructor
Crystal has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Averett University. Crystal has taught math in all three levels of public school: elementary, middle, and high. Her favorite level is middle school where she has spent 12 of her 16 years of teaching. Currently, she is teaching Algebra 1 and Pre-Algebra at Marshall Middle School in Fauquier County and teaching English to Chinese students online from home! When she’s not working with students, she is spending time with her husband, her three children, and her dog. Fun facts: Crystal can drive seated on the right side of a mail truck and has her CDL for driving a school bus!
Jennifer W., Lead Instructor
Jennifer’s first career was in banking, and she switched careers to be an educator 7 years ago. She is certified in Virginia as a Secondary Math teacher and has taught at a nearby public school in Loudoun County for the last six and a half years. She has taught Algebra I, Geometry, and Math 8. She has received a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction for Secondary Mathematics as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Outside of teaching Jennifer enjoys reading, spending time with family (husband and two children), and playing games.
Guy B., Instructor
Guy is a career educator of twenty years. The last ten years he has been teaching math (grades 7-12). He possesses a master's degree in Math Education from George Mason University and a Virginia Teaching Certificate. Over the years, Guy has also coached MathCounts teams in the Blue Ridge Region to several top finishes. He loves to teach and enjoys helping students understand challenging math concepts.
Michele B., Instructor
Michele graduated from Battlefield High School in 2012. She then double majored in mathematics and economics and graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2016. She also has experience tutoring university students in calculus and teaching children science. Michele chose to work at Mathnasium because of her studies in math and her desire for STEM outreach. She has aspirations to return to school to earn a PhD in plasma physics. In her off time, Michele enjoys reading, camping, photography, and video games.
Kaitlin grew up imagining she would be a teacher. She always enjoyed math and was inspired to focus on math education after seeing so many students struggle with the subject. She is currently a graduate student at the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia earning her B/MT in Mathematics Ed. Kaitlin has been lucky enough to experience working in diverse classrooms around Charlottesville and loves to share her enthusiasm for math with her students. In her free time Kaitlin is an avid dancer, and baker.

Christine Schmidt is an Information Technology (IT) Project Manager by day and a tutor by night. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Cum Laude honors from the University of Massachusetts in 2001 and immediately joined the United States Air Force as a Communications Officer after graduation. After leaving the Air Force, she remained in the technology field as a Contractor, then shortly after became a Government Civilian working on various IT and engineering projects. Her love for learning led her back to school full time to earn a Masters of Science in Information Assurance/Cyber Security with Magna Cum Laude honors from Stratford University in 2016, while she was still working full time for the Government. Christine decided to start tutoring in 2018 to share her love of Math with others. Her hobbies include crocheting, reading, puzzles, and watching her kids play sports. Christine is also currently studying part time for a Masters Certificate in Data Science through the Naval Post Graduate School’s distance learning program.
Dan W., Instructor
Dan is currently a substitute teacher for Prince William County schools. He has a Master's Degree in Elementary Education K-6 and is currently renewing his teaching license for K-6. He also passed the PRAXIS II for Middle School Mathematics and will add that to his license. Dan loves teaching in general, but Math is his favorite subject to teach.
